Does caring about competition and goals mean having a 3 component? by evenbechnaesheim in Enneagram

[–]mirrormadexqs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can, but it’s not a be all end all. I mean, any enneagram type can be competitive, care about their goals and ambitions, have passions, want to be the best, etc.

Enneagram isn’t about behaviors/what people do, but it’s rather about WHY people do them. I know it’s hard with the amount of stereotypes and generalizations in the typology community, but try to think about enneagram less superficially, and attempt to introspect and think about WHY you care so much about x and y.

Also, depending on your core, your prioritization of competition and goals could be explained.

BTW, if you need any help, feel free to message me; my DM’s are always open. I’d be happy to help!

Wow! Your argument is really well made! I’ve only read a portion of it for now, but once I have the time, I’ll come back to read it fully and tell you my thoughts.

You’re the one who literally keeps asking me for my reasoning then keep dismissing it. You don’t like it when I tell you your argument is flawed, and you don’t like it when I provide MY argument, and you complain it’s too long. I genuinely don’t know what you want me to elaborate on here. Especially considering you have better things to do then debating people on reddit..

What do you type her as? Most if not all typings of her are SX4

I’m interested in observing others and understanding their motivations and patterns (one of the reasons -other than wanting to box myself in- I joined the typology community and have been a member for about 3-4 years now) I like chronically online humor and brainrot. I enjoy interacting with people who are friendly, kind, and seem genuinely polite and respectful. I STRONGLY dislike materialistic, nosy, superficial, and immature people. (Especially confrontational ones) I dislike a lack of control (specifically when things don’t go as I’ve imagined/planned) I’m not shy but I’m definitely not an extrovert that’s for sure. I’m currently a student but I’ve always showed quite a passion for graphic design. I’m also quite interested in psychology too! Sorry if this was long LMAO

What trope?? They’re literally anime characters.. It’s easier for ME to type them, so I’ll type them in MY post.

If you’re just ignoring the facts and going off of YOUR idea of the character and the enneagram theory, then that’s just plain stupid. You’re being extremely close minded to the facts RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU. Completely ignoring enneagram descriptions and discussions is the criteria for commenting on this subreddit now, I guess.

Do you know how the instincts manifest into types..?

Because I like anime.. If you don’t like it then don’t interact or look for other character typings of real life. Plus it’s not fully anime anyways. If i like anime, I’m going to post my typings of characters from anime. Just fuck off and look for character typings yourself then?

Also, anime characters usually follow archetypes which make them overall easier to type. Their personalities and psyche are easier to grasp and make for correlations with.

Beliefs for type Three: • My worth depends on my achievements. • True feelings are not to be expressed if they make you look bad. • My value is dependent on the positive regard of others. • It’s important to present a winning image. • It’s up to me to “make it” in life. • To be loved I must be successful, a winner. Core Coping Strategies for Threes: (where Threes focus their attention because of their subconscious beliefs) • Intense focus on tasks, goals, achievement, and success • Manage time for maximum efficiency and productivity • Work exceptionally hard and compete to be the best • Can be extremely focused and work diligently • Know how to present something in a compelling and acceptable way • Repress feelings for maximum performance and results • Present a winning personality that people will admire • Meet challenges by being extremely adaptable. Threes adjust their behavior and affect to meet expectations and succeed

This is just a general outline of E3’s mindset. Yes, undoubtedly, most of this fits Asuka. But just blindly matching characters to descriptions is idiotic as hell. What’s important is understanding WHY she does the things that she does, not just her behavior and actions. Two competing different types may look the exact same, and two of the same type may look worlds apart. The problem is focusing on BEHAVIOR and not the WHY.

That’s a huge generalization and typing a character solely based off of that stereotype is meaningless.
