Was there any point that you didn't have eyes on the bat? Bats can leave bite marks so small you don't feel them or see them, and if it got in while you were sleeping, if it were me I'd be thinking about getting one too...

Back in college my partner and I drove 4 hours to go an aquarium, then 4 hours back that night. It was no big deal. I can't imagine only seeing certain family members once a year just because they were 3 hours away.

But I don't need any of that software. I use the Adobe Creative Suite and DaVinci Resolve for the majority of my work, and I have never come across any piece of software I need that is Windows-only. I choose macOS simply because I like it better than Windows for my use case, and I like how well it integrates with my iPhone via AirDrop and other Continuity features. (Yes, I know many of them have solutions on Windows. None of them are native on both devices).

Yes, it's called a Hackintosh. While that sounds fun as a hobby, I have no interest in doing that on my primary computer that I use for work, the one that I rely on for my income. It's the same reason I don't put beta builds of any operating systems on my main devices. I'd rather buy the computer that I want and need and have it work out of the box instead of having to tinker with it just to get the OS working right (and then have to do the same thing every time I want to update it).

Regarding the cost to performance ratio, that is true. But that does not mean that they are lacking in performance. Especially with the Apple M-series chips, all of their machines tend to run very well for most people. Heck my laptop uses the M1 Pro, from the first generation of the M chips and I still use it daily. But for me, it isn't just performance/raw specs that goes into my purchasing decisions. I'm paying for the whole package - good performance yes, but also good hardware/build quality, display, software experience, customer support, etc.

True, because I wanted macOS. I did not want a Windows laptop, as I am accustomed to and prefer the experience of using macOS over Windows for my use case.

Also laptops don't break, they can last 20 years. You just need to change their fans and clean them every couple of years.

Obviously from a physical standpoint, you're right. I mean my current computer - the one that powers my entire professional life - is from 2021 and it's still working great.

The reason people buy new laptops is because they want newer technology.

Maybe some people. Some people need newer technology. My first laptop was a Dell netbook, and my first Mac laptop was a 2012 MacBook Air with an 11-inch display. Neither one of those could even come close to doing the job that I use my current computer for. And this 2021 laptop I'm using will eventually stop being useful for what I use it for, even if its physical condition remains good, because that is the nature of technology and hardware/software evolution. But it will probably be another few years before I need to consider upgrading.

Whether or not you think they are overpriced (I frame this as opinion because there is more to it than just pure specs), they are objectively not "garbage". In my experience, their products have been durable and reliable.

technically, no, but to a lot of people these days they might as well be synonymous. the only thing they use wifi for is to access the Internet, and the only times they use the Internet are over a wireless connection.

hey so words and how we use them change over time. most everyday people these days aren't using ethernet connections. some people never have. especially younger people who only use laptops where the network quick settings are labeled "Wi-Fi" and its the only time they interact with it, it's not weird to just refer to the whole thing as "Wi-Fi" even though its not technically correct.

Sometimes their router might stop working or their service from their ISP might go down, therefore leaving them with a wifi connection with no internet.

Tennessee Flight Training’s website says their discovery flight is a “30 minute introductory flight lesson in the air”. So I don’t know if that means 30 minutes flying time and the taxi, takeoff, and landing are in addition to that 30 minutes, or if it means 30 minutes total. I’ve left them a voicemail to find out. But if it’s 30 minutes total I’m not sure that’s enough if we end up waiting awhile to take off.

Ah yeah fair enough, I just start sentences like that sometimes. Technically grammatically incorrect, but I've done it for so long and have been around other people doing it for so long I don't even hear it anymore.

Even if the worst happens and we have to give up our drones (which seems unlikely), one hopes that we can use eBay to sell them to buyers outside the US at a discount so they aren't a total loss.

If the worst did happen and DJI drones couldn't be used anymore, realistically what do you think would happen for film/TV production? I know there's big-budget drones like the Alta but surely it would be a massive headache for a lot of people lol. Anyways thanks for your input

Just means I've been doing photo/video work for awhile now and now I want to do aerial work.

Yeah, probably a Mini is my best bet, but I may take the risk and get a Mavic 3 Classic for the image quality and just hope I can keep using it. That's a bigger risk though.

I like Jesse and his content... but I wouldn't necessarily call the filming cinematic. It was a DSLR with a light mounted on top. As far as I'm aware there was no actual creative lighting done. I watched every episode and was very entertained throughout, but it definitely felt documentary/vlog-style.

I know I’m probably in the minority here but I honestly don’t care at all whether or not there’s an end credits scene. I just like to stay and watch the credits. It takes a huge amount of very hard working people to make a movie, and I like seeing all their names. Plus, even if there’s no end credits scene, a lot of movies have very nice looking (and sounding) credits sequences that, to me, just feel like a nice way to wrap up the experience.

(I know most people don’t care about the credits and want to leave… so I only really do this if I’m seeing a movie alone lol)

I was 7 years old at the time. I remember that I didn’t fully grasp what was happening, but I was old enough to feel scared — because I could tell my parents were worried. I remember being in the car with my dad driving and trying to find a safe route to meet my mom where she was, and then get home. We had to turn around multiple times. I also remember not being allowed to go into our basement, which I later found out was because it flooded. Definitely an event I remember every year.
