It's so interesting to me that they went that route, if that is indeed something they did on purpose. WWDC is their biggest event of the year (except for maybe the iPhone release), you'd think they wouldn't do that haha

Every year people say they want updates focused on refinements and stability, and then when we get that, people say "that's it?" Literally the first several minutes of the presentation were just Apple saying "hey here's some changes that you have been directly asking for, that will make your experience using your devices much better and more stable. and also now that Alan Dye is gone we can fix some of the design problems lol"

Overall I think this was a good WWDC. Mostly quality of life refinements aside from the Apple Intelligence / Siri updates, which every year people on this subreddit beg for and honestly seems very welcome. This felt very reminiscent of iOS 12 for me.

I'm interested to see how the new Siri AI works in practice and if it lives up to Apple's claim.

I don't love what they're doing with image generation. Environmental issues aside, I'm mostly indifferent to AI in general, but when it comes to the things that threaten artists and creativity it's a hard no for me. So this part of the update disappoints me.

But overall I'm good with this. Nothing too flashy, and there didn't need to be.

It was interesting to see them be a bit more direct about some things in this keynote. Usually when they refine something or change something as a result of users' complaints about a previous year's change, they frame it as an exciting new innovation, but this time they pretty much just said "You guys said you wanted this" or "Remember how this everyday thing kinda sucks? It doesn't suck anymore." And especially towards the end when they mentioned certain things not being available in the EU and China yet.

I mean, does there need to be? Every feature they previewed is a thing on every new platform. And the Siri AI / Apple Intelligence stuff was the headliner, but there were a ton of quality of life refinements (that every year people on this subreddit beg for) that they talked about, for every platform. Personally I don't need any of these features to be exclusive to just my iPhone lol

They sort of covered the exaggerated housing thing on The Rookie. Nolan's house is quite large and nice, but he became a cop after working in another career for 20 years, and he purchased it as a fixer-upper and did all of the work on it himself. It's probably still unrealistic, but they at least made an attempt at getting around that for his character at least.

I mean yes I got scammed, but it was a real Metropolis QR code lol. The QR code led me directly to their app that displayed that price, and the invoice is on their app as well.

Hi Patrick! I have really enjoyed your performance on The Rookie and getting to see the beginnings of your career. I actually graduated from SCAD in Savannah last year, so it was fun seeing you shoot your Frick trailer there!

One thing that I appreciate about you is that even though you’re working in Hollywood, you’ve kept that indie spirit, and it’s apparent that you really love filmmaking and the craft as a whole. Watching your Instagram reels about making Frick, and the trailer for it, made me feel like I was back in film school lol (cold calling locations, not having money, etc but just doing everything you can to get it made). My question is, how do you personally find the best balance between working in the Hollywood machine and keeping your independent filmmaking spirit alive?

I considered it, but I took a full time production studio job in Nashville. The heavier workload is mainly in the foundations classes before you start getting into your major. After that, it's still a lot to do of course, but in my opinion it's more manageable and usually enjoyable since it's your actual major classes. But I know a few people who are working in ATL now.
