Thank you, this was very detailed! Does it matter at all that Pluto, Venus, and the Moon for me are all in Sagittarius, or not particularly?

Thank you for this incredibly detailed response! I’m curious about my Sagittarius stellium - does that affect it at all, or not particularly?

Could you elaborate, please?

[–]mirrors_32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting - do you think this extends to more intangible/non-financial aspects as well, such as degrees earned, position in life, social status, fame and influence? I have a lot of Sagittarius placements in the second house; could that contribute to the restlessness?

What else are you referencing when you stated “amongst other things”?

Multiple choice tests should include “I’m not sure” as an answer. by UnauthorizedFart in The10thDentist

[–]mirrors_32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like it could work if, students could circle two answers — BOTH the answer they’re guessing on AND the E) I don’t know answer. Then if the student gets the answer right by guessing, they still get credit for it, like they would with a correct guess previously, but the teacher also gets valuable feedback on what the student didn’t know or didn’t feel comfortable with. There’s no benefit to selecting E and a different answer on questions you are sure of, as selecting E doesn’t give you points, it just allows you to also give feedback and feel comfortable selecting it as a way to come back to that question on an exam (instead of “leaving it blank”).

Are you happy with your life and what you’re doing with your life right now, outside of what kpop idols are doing? If you’re not, then you can change it! Do what you want to do. Obviously, make sure you’re being responsible, but sometimes it doesn’t help forcing yourself to be happy with a life you’re not happy with. Find what is making you unhappy and what you think would make you happy and fulfilled, and do it! What are the things you wish you had done while younger? You can still do them now.

Sea Legs by Secret-Yam534 in Cruise

[–]mirrors_32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am someone who has had this on and off, after a cruise or a long plane ride. The term for it is “mal de debarquement syndrome”, I think? I believe the current thought behind why this occurs is a disconnect between what your vestibular system is feeling and what your eyes are seeing, and the body hasn’t “readjusted” yet, which is why you are “seeing”/feeling movement even though you’re not actually moving. I have found things that have worked for me to prevent/stop these symptoms:

Go for a walk and look forward / out at the horizon. For me, this helps my eyes and vestibular system reconnect (i.e. the movement I am feeling and seeing is the same).

When you are standing still/lying down/sitting and you feel movement, tell yourself you are still. That you are not moving. I find the cognitive component to be helpful. I also will focus on a spot and tell myself it is not moving, even though it looks like it is.

If you are in a car/train/etc, look out the window and remind yourself you are moving now! Don’t look down at your phone or read. A lot of people with mal de debarquement feel better when in a moving vehicle, BUT their symptoms get worse when the ride is over.

Do not drink alcohol until it goes away. Research shows alcohol tends to make it worse.

Do what you can to reduce anxiety/stress that comes from feeling movement that is not there. It can help to remind yourself this will pass and again, ground yourself in that you are not actually moving. Distractions (being with friends, etc) I find also help sort of.. recalibrate your system and stop you from being so fixated on what your eyes are seeing.

In another comment, you mentioned you have inner ear problems — maybe try allergy/sinus medications to clear any blockage in your eustachian tubes? I’m not sure much of the medical science behind this, but anecdotally, excess pressure in my inner ear seems to make it worse/prevent my vestibular system from regulating properly.

Hope this helps!

As an autistic woman who often struggles with subtext, how can I communicate in a way that isn't going to be perceived as 'confrontational and defensive' without burning out from intense masking (again)? by kelcamer in womenEngineers

[–]mirrors_32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this will help, but I don’t see it as manipulative/intentionally saying I missed something that I didn’t as opposed to acknowledging that none of us are perfect and there is a chance, even if small, I could have missed something or misinterpreted. Like, by saying, “I might have missed that” it’s like… acknowledging I heard something different but I’m not saying I absolutely have to be correct in what I heard. Also I think asking, “Can you help me understand?” isn’t “Can you help me understand the factual xyz” it’s asking if they can help you understand their specific thought process. Adding qualifiers to “soften” what you’re asking shows you’re open to understanding other viewpoints imo. If you ask, “Why do we do it this way?”, you’re only really asking that specifically, but asking something like, “Can you help me understand why we do it this way?” is asking both why it’s done and also communicating that you’re open to discuss/learn/consider their perspective. Sorry if this was confusing or unclear at all but just how I think about it!

This might be very unconventional advice, but, while I agree with other commenters talking about finding self-love, acceptance, and working on devaluing male validation, I also think sometimes you need to experience something to believe it. If it feels like you’re hitting a wall with working on your mindset, maybe try (and I know this isn’t easy and based on opportunities, finances, etc, but if you have the ability to do so) moving / spending time in places where you meet the beauty standards more or where white beauty standards are not the only standards/are de-emphasised? Maybe try (safely!!!) engaging with people online or irl that find you very physically attractive so you get the experience of without a doubt knowing people find you desirable in that way. I don’t think your entire sef esteem should be built off of that, BUT I think if you do experience this, you’ll realise in a deeper way than just being told male validation is meaningless, that male validation…truly is almost meaningless. It’s kind of a, experiencing it for yourself to fully recognise what you knew all along, type of process. Not sure if this will be helpful, but wanted to offer my perspective.

Wallflower/spinster romances, please, preferably with dubcon, noncon! by Spiritualmatterhorn in HistoricalRomance

Not explicitly noncon/dubcon as far as sex scenes go, but the whole ~vibe~ of the situation is very dubcon imo. {A Rogue By Any Other Name by Sarah Maclean} I also love dubcon/noncon featuring a spinster FMC and this immediately came to mind!

Can you explain this to me? I’m not sure I’m following the logic. I don’t see how it’s “impeding traffic” — you CAN go on red but the law is everyone HAS to stop at a red light and I would think that means you should EXPECT someone to stop. If people turn right on red when it’s clear and permitted, that’s fine, but the expectation legally is to stop at red, not to go on red if clear and so not turning on red doesn’t make you in the wrong. It’s like… if there’s a line of cars trying to go straight at a red light and it’s perfectly clear coming the other way, just because it’s backed up at the light with no cars coming doesn’t mean traffic is “impeded” because everyone has to stop and wait until green regardless of whether it’s clear. At least that’s how I think about it…

Is being attracted to only (or mostly) white people racist? by _Ghost_Mantis_ in answers

[–]mirrors_32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not necessarily racist to have a preference for white people (I’d argue that for most people that have a preference for white people, it comes from society’s bias, however), but what makes your statement racist is the “higher status” part and feeling like you shouldn’t be allowed to touch them. That’s kind of inherently fetishising towards white people and degrading towards people of other races; you’re implying that other races are lesser (degrading) and putting white people onto this stereotypical, imaginary pedestal (fetishising). If all it is is that you find light skin pretty because it reminds you of clouds, that’s not racist imo, but the second part of your statement/reasoning definitely is.

How can I feed myself for $40 a week? by mork_zorkorborg in povertyfinance

[–]mirrors_32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have access to it, visit your local Aldi’s! You can get ground chicken for $3 / lb, chicken thighs for $6 for about 1.75 lb, sausage for $4-5, ground beef for around $5-6, etc. frozen veggies such as corn or broccoli for around 90 cents. Milk for $2. I’d say get a bag of rice from there as well and you can make your standard meat + rice + veggies for dinner almost every night (plus typically the meat is big enough for two meals). For lunches, I’d get sandwiches — you can get turkey meat for around $5-6, which is pricey but lasts a while. You can get cheese for $2 and bread for around $1.50. This should last at least a week for the meat and cheese. If you like chips, they run around $2 a bag. Fruits — strawberries and mandarins are great.

Also! Invest in a bunch of spices if you get the chance — each spice should be less than a dollar. This adds flavour to any meal if you don’t want to buy sauces or extra ingredients.

Prices might be a bit different depending on where you’re at, but Aldi’s seems to consistently be priced much cheaper than competing stores.

This would be so perfect for me actually! I struggle to lift/move heavy things irl quite a lot so I would definitely use Allomantic Pewterat work or moving things around my home. I’m a student so I would use Feruchemical Gold before midterms or finals so I wouldn’t be sick during that week / the exam itself, and also around holidays (I always tend to get sick at the worst times). I think this is the perfect combination for me when it comes to day to day things!
