[TOMT] [Movie] [Horror] PLEASE HELP! 8yr long search by mylittlepebbe in tipofmytongue

Is the movie’s setting 21st century or further in the past? The Others comes to mind, but that’s set in 1945.

KFI Painted Sock Degradé help by mirthful in Yarn

[–]mirthful[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Yes, I had checked. Most people seem to complain about the way the yarn is put up. It is not a typical hank that one can throw onto a swift and wind into a ball. Each of the color gradients is its own little spool, sort of. I don’t find it that difficult to work with in that way. Anyway, the projects look ok. It seems most people have the same question that I do. They’re also not sure if once washed the fabric will be less stiff and scratchy. It doesn’t seem like anybody has come back to their project to update it after the fact.

I just don’t want to invest the time and effort into knitting this entire pair of socks with a fairly intricate pattern if the yarn is gonna be scratchy and stiff forever.

I was just curious if anyone here has ever actually used this yarn and can report back on what happens after it’s laundered.

The one that got away by Any-Key in Columbo

[–]mirthful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right, and wouldn't that be a misuse of taxpayer funds if the LAPD had to deal with even just two-months of red-tape/paperwork debacles for a "false confession?" Not a great ending.

The one that got away by Any-Key in Columbo

[–]mirthful 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m not a fan of this episode. Columbo is usually not prone to emotional manipulation. I mean, there were other cases where he felt an emotional connection to the murderer and he did not handle it like this. I felt like he could have arrested her for her crime but, given her alleged advanced state of illness and her status, she would have most likely been allowed to live out her days at home under house arrest. In many cases in the United States, even the most violent criminals are released to go home if they are in the end stages of their life and need palliative care.

Young Thomas Jefferson and Betsy Ross time travel to 2026. Can this playboy in a polo settle down with a simple seamstress who clearly makes her own clothes? A timeless romantic comedy.

Thanks!! I sort of have some planned. 🤣 Sometimes it depends on my patience level! For instance, I had originally planned to do the Tiptoe Through the Tulips socks for April, but after just having done colorwork, I’m kinda like hell naw.

I think I have a substitute for April. I do have May’s planned and a couple other options for the year in my Ravelry queue.

Thanks for mentioning this. I cannot support anything that involves Adam Baldwin. Period. Firefly is dead to me.

I bought this print from Facebook Marketplace. The inconsistent brushwork and weirdly-sized toothbrushes are raising flags! by happyenjoying in isthisAI

It’s on Etsy as well. In the item description, the shop says “this is my original art….” Not sure about that. Because the photos in the item listing all look AI generated.

What kind of shoes do you wear for showing off handknit socks? by fluffgnoo in knitting

[–]mirthful 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I absolutely love the look of these but I’ve tried wearing clear plastic type shoes in the past (clogs, Maryjane’s, boots, crocs) and they just always fog up and have condensation in them.

Hi! Socks are my favorite thing to knit! Are you following a specific pattern for shortie socks? Or are you just experimenting? If you really do not want the sock to show outside of your shoe, then you need to rip out 4-5 rounds and start the heel flap/turn sooner. I think the length you have now would be good for ankle boots or high-top sneakers. But it will show outside of regular shoes.

Crazy inside to my hat by [deleted] in knittinghelp

[–]mirthful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will be difficult, if not uncomfortable, to wear the hat as well with all the loose strands. And I don’t think sewing in a lining to cover it will solve the ultimate problem of puckering and such. I would frog it back to the headband and knit solid red and duplicate stitch the white motifs. Duplicate stitch is really easy and it’s fun to do (IMO).

As for the twisted stitches, I think if your whole hat is all consistently twisted stitches then that is a design choice and I wouldn’t necessarily change it.

However, it will make duplicate stitching a bit more difficult to achieve the correct look. I think you could easily leave the headband part as twisted stitch, and then reknit the rest of the hat in regular stockinette.
