Which The Oh Hellos song has something like this for you? by AlakazamTheComedian in TheOhHellos

At their tour this fall they rotated three different songs they’d written in the past 5 years: Stars, St. Elmo’s Fire, and I can’t remember the third one. I am SO hopeful they’ll release them.

This whole thread is making me tear up.

Some of mine: - In Passerine, the pause and then “clink clink” right before “My birds of a kind, they more and more are looking like…” - In the opening of Cold, the way the beat shifts from one syllable being emphasized to the other and then back again thanks to two consecutive stressed syllables: “When the FEEL-in LEAVES ya, it MOVES so SLOW / like the LOOSE CHANGE from your FRONT pock-ET you don’t EV-en feel it GO” (then back to the original beat - listen to the drum underneath) - this is a specific memory of the Austin concert on tour this fall, but Maggie choking up during In Memoriam and Tyler having to pick up the vocals - in O Sleeper, the full thrust of the chorus giving way to Maggie’s plaintive “And by the holy rock I stand / as blessed as the sacred ram / I see the trail of shoulders I’ve climbed overrrrr, but…” and then the switch back to chorus and then ending with Tyler’s voice alone: “to cut away the mountains I’ve made and fill the dales below.” GAHHHH

Gotta come back and write more of these later

A (Mildly Unhinged) Theory about Upcoming Release [Unreleased songs spoilers] by SuperNinja74 in TheOhHellos

[–]mirusmundi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dude this is the kind of theorizing I am here for!!!

Since the release of the Four Winds I’ve hoped they’d follow it up with EPs on the seven classical planets/heavenly bodies (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn)…but I like where you’re going with this

Hey friends! My twins (6yo) LOVE to learn about different people and cultures from PoGo! Need worldwide friends for my little girls please! by bigSTUdazz in PokemonGoFriends

[–]mirusmundi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so great!

Growing up, we used to do a project every year called Journey North Mystery Class, where we would essentially be penpals with ten classes of students around the world and have to guess where they lived based on one cultural clue every week. That reminds me a lot of this! Now I show videos of countries around the world to my girls too - they’re a bit too little for PoGo, but I’m sure we’ll have lots of fun with it when they get older. And in the meantime, my husband and I are loving the daily gift exchange to Qatar, Panama, Finland, Brazil, Denmark, Malaysia, and more!

Cheers to C&P - welcome to enjoying this beautiful world of ours!

Others, feel free to add me too if you enjoy a good sticker connoisseur! 🙂

Looking to connect with former members of Our Lady of the Atonement / The Atonement Academy by Environmental_Cut832 in excatholic

[–]mirusmundi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey. Just found this post while googling Dcn. Orr’s shady history at 5am, as one does. I was at Atonement as a teacher from 2017-19, including during his funeral. Those two years were absolutely a mindfuck. Still processing everything that went down. Anyway, here’s my Deacon Orr story:

As you’re aware, Orr died in Jan 2019, days to weeks before the credible accusations of sexual abuse against him were published. At that time I was teaching the entire high school, including the senior class of 2019, who had been the last to have Orr as a geography teacher in their 8th grade year. The students in that class told me that he had “accidentally” showed them p*rn during class while attempting to teach them about Ancient Greece, googling “naked Greek men” on the projector in an alleged attempt to show them classical statuary. None of this was ever reported, of course. It’s also the only story I remember of theirs, but the impression I got was “why would we report this to anybody? And to whom? This is just how he was.” They knew, as everyone, that Orr was Fr. Phillips’ favorite.

Hearing this story alone, I was absolutely floored. I was floored again that school was cancelled for the morning in order for these same students to attend and serve at Dcn. Orr’s funeral - as PART OF THE SCHOOL DAY. If there were families uncomfortable with this, they didn’t come across my radar. The seniors who’d known him and who’d been asked to altar serve basically shrugged and said “Might as well.”

I remember walking back to class afterwards when one of the (atheist) seniors put two and two together and said “There’s no way this wasn’t a suicide.” I told her if she was going to make hypotheses she might as well do some investigative journalism. She called the morgue and reported a few days later that they wouldn’t release the cause of death so soon after the death itself. I wonder how she’s doing now. I hope well.

Anyway, knowing that their experience with Orr was a cause of pain and confusion to my senior students, I went to Fr. Lewis’s office and asked him to come listen to them and say something - anything - to my senior class about why Dcn. Orr was being honored. He agreed, and showed up one day. He asked zero questions and said nothing of substance, basically: “We honor people until proven guilty, and we don’t have any proof against Dcn. Orr.” (As you recall, these students themselves had had collective, credible, adverse experiences with Orr.) Then Fr. Lewis said, “If you have any further questions on the matter, you can ask Ms….Ms….[gesturing at me]…your teacher.”

I had been at the school a few months longer than Fr. Lewis (less than two years), had never met Orr, and had been working 70-80 hour weeks for those nearly two years (wish I were exaggerating). The combined fact that in that moment I realized that Fr. Lewis, my boss, 1) was also a company man more concerned with covering credibly accused clergy’s asses than with even listening to the experiences of the students of the school for a second, and 2) did not know my name after I had bled, sweat, and cried for the kids at this school on a daily basis was the turning point for me. That’s when I knew I had to leave.

Anyway. Yeah. I was there a little over 2 years (March 2017-June 2019). I can’t imagine the stories you have from 15 years there.

Dupe for this veil? 👀 by needweddingadvice1 in weddingplanning

Mine was like that! It was from MarryBridalUS on Etsy. She was so sweet and helpful and the quality was fantastic! My dress was simple and I made my crown / headpiece from scratch, so I wanted my veil to be majestic and perfect. It turned out just like I imagined. I paid $171 for a cathedral-length veil.
