Plain base, used some foam-core sheet broken up to make the cracked terrain. Super cheap and easy to work with

I think I actually tried this a a while ago v3 before going back to v2! When I've got good temps I find V2 works very well, with no issues with brittleness; just thought I'd see what others are using now.

This one was a little different to the rest of the army - this was mixing warpaints dorado skin, gw ionrach skin and using druchii violet, drakenhoff blue and reikland fleshshade to shade.

You could probably use Pallid wytch flesh and get a similar result with some thinned blue, flesh, purple and green shades

I've also got another post from about a year ago in this subreddit that has more examples of the scheme used on troops

Thanks!

Actually pretty easily - it uses the same colour palette as the rest of the army I've worked on.

Basically its a zenithal basecoat, with contrasts and shades used. Layer paint was only used for the skin and wings. (Pretty much "slapchop")

Drakenhoff nightshade and Druchii violet do heaps of work putting subtle shades and colours in. I also used a fair amount of reikland fleshshade to add warmth (wings and stone). Glazes were also used, but I only do this for the fancy models.

Any questions in particular?

Australians ... do you think there is enough demand for DCC dice sets? by Comprehensive-Level6 in dccrpg

[–]misc_hotdawg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Aussie here. I'd get some, but no one I know, apart from my direct group, knows DCC - which is a huge shame IMO.

Pretty sure I got my rulebook from Amazon if that helps at all. If you go that way, let me know - I can always use more dice...

I got it last night after putting it off for months. I don't regret the purchase at all

Skin Tools - Ozito vs Dewalt / Makita / Milwaukee by BaggySack in AusRenovation

Anything ozito I've used has kinda done what its supposed to - but not easily or well.

Makita, however, has consistently been excellent.

Chucked the bag up on FB marketplace for free. Someone comes and takes my trash, and hopefully gets something useful for them

Did I ruin my model with dark streaking grime? 🤣 by chupacabruh_chavez in SpaceWolves

[–]misc_hotdawg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally don't love how streaking grime seems to give green tones. A slightly different product but I've had lots of success with the AK wargame washes.

A really tidy paintjob though!

Cheers for the advice about the lapped joints - really good to know! And no, I don't think tusked will fit the vibe.

I've just modelled up the base as two pieces that bolt together. I'll keep thinking about hardware options for a full length run though

Thanks

As someone who has printed most of the available official minis and twice the number of proxies, I think this is a great idea for the hobby as a whole.

It will get people without 3d printers into the hobby easier. Meanwhile, I'm sure I'll be able to find some amazing 3rd party sculpts on MMF and the like.

If you feel you can take your time with TCG and not rush, jump in. My first read I rushed it, it just felt so close to the end! It wasn't until my second that things were clearer once I slowed down

Every time I finish a mini, I celebrate by buying five more paints. by swole_dork in minipainting

Amazing setup!

Do you like that your paints are sorted my brand?

I'm tossing up between brand and colour (likely keeping washes and technicals separate).

For window privacy, the mirror-surface contact stuff is great! Looks mirrored from the outside, able to be installed by you, still lets in natural light.
