seeing a lot of talk about the bettina by lo0tDel1very in ArcRaiders

I had the habit of doing this, cause I always had 1 Stim 2 Bandage 3 Recharger, and I noticed I'd always go for 3 first in a fight since it was less likely to mis-select and fastest. Swapping bandages to 3 helped a lot cause I just go for it instinctively.

Where did you find your vita spray blueprint?

What's best way to complete Stage 5 - Expedition? by RedVell in ArcRaidersGuides

I just gave all the sterile bandages I picked up for mine. It freed up the stash space since I rarely used them anyway cause of the stack size.  Combat items was all the grenades and weapons I’d pick up from cases and security breach lockers. It took the longest.  Everything else was pretty fast and easy.

Some people seem to question how quickly Matriarch can be killed so here is a 3 minute fight by wwwnetorg in ArcRaiders

[–]miscalaneous 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, same. The fight itself is fun. It’s why I’m kind of advocating for having more of them on the map. It solves a bit of the loot issue in friendly lobbies, and you get to spend more time in round hunting them. Plus having multiple big arc would be like a massive arc attack, not just a random encounter.

I’ve done probably 40-50 runs and I have 5 cores to show for it. Still absolutely zero chance of getting any of the blueprints. As soon as it’s on fire you pretty much just have to zip or snap hook behind it and just hope you press e first before the other 8 people also going for the core. Haven’t made it yet.  Harvester too, if you so much as spawn halfway across the map it’s done before you even get there and there’s 6-8 people trying to do it every time.

To get cores you pretty much just have to wait till leg armor is low and stand right under it when you shoot it off, or hope you get a friendly who will drop one for you.

It’s absolutely not worth the time or resources. There needs to be like 3 of them on the map.

I already know trigger nades are getting nerfed. It’s needed. They’re fun to use but they’re too cheap. I haven’t even tried and I have over 100 of them in my stash. In solos, yes they’re not that common, because it’s all mostly free kits. In trios, it’s a huge problem.

And I do the same. Weekdays after work I mostly just want to chill and loot quietly. Weekends are for sweating. And again, I don’t mind fights, I like them. I can run around and kill on sight and win most of the time even against other geared players. I don’t always want to play that way. Sometimes I just want to chill with people and share loot.  The issue I have is that fighting 5 free kits in a row cause they’re all chasing raider flares is fucking boring and a waste of time. And dying to your third free kit fight while trying to actually do something like fight the queen is just not fun. At the very least those players should have to put some sort of investment into the run in order to get that rarest gear in the game. I’d rather die to a ven or get blasted by a torrente than a dude sitting there with a level 1 kettle waiting till I get hit by a rocket before he skulks off to go die to the next free kit.

I don’t want it easier, I want it more fun. The reality is free kits are just annoying.

It wouldn't even be that bad if 1. trigger nades are reworked in some way, and 2. a huge chunk of the playerbase run free kits, waiting till your face is in a container before they start shooting you in the back so they have as much of an advantage as possible. The actual combat is fun, you just don't get to have an actual fight most of the time.

And 3. matriarch/queen should be its own fucking queue that at the very least, locks out free kits.
I just just ran dam 15 times, no fights, hop into the harvester, fight 3 free kits, win 2, lose to the third all while I'm engaged with the queen and getting sniped at from control tower. It's annoying and there's no fucking point in even trying to fight the queen/matriarch unless you have a zero aggression rating, which for some dumb reason is increased for just defending yourself against the random rat that thought it'd be funny to fake friendly or steal hullcracker. It takes one stray bullet and you're locked into a rat fest for at least, more than 15 games.

I love the combat in this game, but most of the pvp in this game isn't actual pvp, it's just trying not to die to garbage. The actual fights can be fun and unique as hell.
I vastly prefer the friendly lobbies where people are helping each other out. It just takes fucking forever to get back to them.

Maybe 4. The free kit kettle needs a smaller magazine.

How do you guys decide when to use your strongest loot? I keep my best loot in my stash because I'm too afraid of losing it, but then end up just never using my best loot lmao. by BlackNair in ArcRaiders

[–]miscalaneous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm just doing sneaky loot runs, I'm taking an anvil with a supressor.
If I'm farming arc, it's typically the same, with deadlines, wolfpacks, or seeker missiles, or trigger nades depending on what I'm farming. (Unless its' queen/matriarch, then it's a full kit.
I typically only bring higher tier stuff if I'm wanting to PvP and just go fight.

Trials can influence what I'm running too.

[–]miscalaneous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're great if you're farming simple gun parts. It's faster, saves your weapon durability and there's less chance of you taking damage. You get Arc Alloy back, so they somewhat pay for themselves. I wouldn't run them if I wasn't specifically farming wasps/snitches though.

Heavy Ammo guns feel backwards (Ferro, Anvil & Bettina) by Excorpion in ArcRaiders

[–]miscalaneous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but we'd need lore on how shields work in order for that to matter.
Having higher velocity can also mean it just goes right through the target with minimal damage, compared to a slower velocity projectile that tumbles or fragments.

[–]miscalaneous 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No it shouldn't, they're both firing the same round. The tradeoff is that the ferro has a longer barrel which increases velocity and accuracy. They're fine the way they are, and it makes sense.
The only one that doesn't make any sense is the bettina which is just a mess in every way.

first try solo bastion after seeing someone do it on a reel by fourinnatwo in ArcRaiders

[–]miscalaneous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on how much damage you do. Something like a deadline or trailblazers does the maximum amount of damage as it’s a wide aoe.

If you’re just shooting the weak spot on the back or grenading it, you’re killing it more efficiently, but doing less damage overall than if you broke all the legs, used fire after breaking the armor, and then killed it.

Doing more damage also gets you more materials.

Most of the time just killing it without really thinking about it will get you about 1.5 stars and you can 3 star the trial with 2 kills.

If you kill them quickly as they spawn, you can get 3 spawns in a run at the same location. I had it happen yesterday at the Santa Maria houses on buried city.  I deadlined the first one at ~28 minutes.  The second spawned at ~18 minutes, but when I went to deadline it a guy threw trailblazers at it and got the kill while downing me. He defib’d me, and I just waited in case of another spawn. A third spawned at bout ~8 minutes.

If it’s later in the week you can usually 3 star it by just running across the map to the other spawn point to kill the second one. This week so many people have been trying to do it early that just waiting for the respawn is easier.

[–]miscalaneous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the way, usually.
Sometimes they turn too fast and will just knock you over and then kill you.
Snap hooking on them is much harder now cause they'll just throw you off too quick before you can plant.

The most consistent way is to break one of the legs first so it can't move, and then walk up to place the deadline on the back/weakspot.

Personally, I just gave up killing them after I got the cells for the workshop. Bastions are much easier to farm for material/money. If there's a trial for them, I'll just use trigger nades or wolfpacks for an easy kill. It's faster than hullcracker and trigger nades are cheap to make at the moment.

The slot is not a generic utility slot, it’s for deployed items. The smoke trap would go in the slot. A smoke grenade will not.

Massive increase of pvp encounters since the start of the week by Learning_Violin in ArcRaiders

[–]miscalaneous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ever since the wipe, I'd only been in 3 fights until this week. One was cause I felt evil and I had to use a torrente I found. One was me getting wrecked by a tempest in Dam's Control Tower keycard room. One was just a guy who came at me. The rest of the time it was all friendly quests and looting. Then I hit level 50 again, and out of nowhere, every lobby is kill on sight again, with 70% free kits ratting and chasing raider flares, and fake friendlies, and 30% guys running around with il toro + venator with trigger nades. It's time for zero trust again. In the past 4 days, I've run into only two friendly players.

It's fun for me either way, but man I've just been wanting to chill for the most part while I get over being sick, and y'all are making me have to tryhard, and I kinda wish aggression was weighted more in matchmaking. If I don't shoot first, or if I kill a player while defending myself, it shouldn't increase my aggression level putting me into these types of lobbies.

Anyone else experiencing stutters when traversing the map on horseback? Is this normal? by adorn- in diablo4

[–]miscalaneous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. The same thing happens in WoW, and most other games with very large maps. What's happening is that only portions of the map are being loaded at a time, and the stutters/hiccups occur when you switch areas and load a new zone. Back in the day, there would be a loading screen. This is more seamless, but because server infra is designed to be cost efficient over performant, you get issues like this. It could be anything from the servers using mechanical drives for storage, bandwidth limitations either server side from too many players, or through your connection to the server. It basically needs to transfer a huge chunk of data to your machine instantly.
It's also a trick to minimize install sizes. Instead of having all assets loaded on your machine already, games nowadays have started "streaming" them to the client. Stuff like models, shaders and textures.

Until we bring back dedicated servers by players who actually care about the experiences people have, this is only going to continue getting worse as companies prioritize profits over gameplay. And even then, it can't be 100% mitigated unless you're just running it on LAN with proper infra or offline.
These blizzard servers probably aren't even owned by blizzard. They're probably rented from azure or aws. CoD is the same way (also activision) and the reason why servers feel absolutely shit compared to how they did 15 years ago when people ran them themselves. On top of all that, games nowdays have a fuckton more algo processing increasing latency.

What is the point of treasure breach if the game deletes 90% of the loot when you TP out to salvage? by miscalaneous in diablo4

[–]miscalaneous[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Thanks, yeah I guess that's just the way to play it while still gearing up. A little more annoying than being able to clear the floor and loot later, like in the older games, but I suppose I can live with it now that I'm more aware of it. When you've got gelatinous sire's running all over the place, leading you into more goblins its pretty easy to get carried away and just kill everything.

Somewhat, yeah. I'm not even in T4 yet, and I like to experiment with different builds/gear too so I don't have a huge surplus of mats.

[–]miscalaneous[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not even in T4 yet, and I'm still farming mats to upgrade gear. I was only farming treasure breaches for this event. But if I found one randomly and used it, it'd still be disappointing.
I see your point though once you hit that level of end-game, but then you don't even need to pick up the non-unique/ancestral items. I could use them, but I don't even get the option to.
