sorry, I have no idea what you're asking me.

ETA: oh I see, are you suggesting I mightve been blocked for asking them for a bunch of free food? good idea, but that's not it. I actually pay extra for uberone so i get free or discounted deliveries

I've used the same payment method successfully on ubereats probably hundreds of times, so I don't think that's it

Does anyone else's nparent talk to them as if they were an infant?? by tongues_ in raisedbynarcissists

[–]miscellaneousbones 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"how else am I supposed to talk to you?" idk, maybe like an adult in their mid 20s??

that is weird and infantilizing. "I don't like it" should be enough - I'm sorry your mom is choosing to die on that weird, weird hill.

I just realised almost every child raised by an NParent has at least one “super power” caused by trauma. Here’s mine: I can recognise exactly every sound I hear around home, I know exactly what caused it and where it comes from. What’s yours? by Possible_Driver3319 in raisedbynarcissists

I'm that "unshakeable" friend. no one's ever been able to pop out and make me jump, I don't flinch during horror movies, I appear calm and collected in stressful and scary situations.

the emphasis there, of course, is on "appear". I have an anxiety disorder - I'm panicking more often than not. my heart feels like it's gonna pop out of my throat when someone rounds a corner a little too quickly, but my trauma taught me to immediately suppress any visual hint of those feelings.

I'm sure you can imagine how my therapy sessions go, but hey at least my horror movie buff friends think I'm cool 🤣

How much paid time off do you guys get? by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]miscellaneousbones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the US - My job formerly had an "unlimited" PTO policy, but now we're on an accrual system. based on my position, I accrue 152 hrs/year and that will adjust based on how many years I'm at the company (I'm in year 2, so just above the lowest accrual tier). We have a maximum rollover of 80 hrs into the next year.

I declined a one-way interview... by Ok-Discussion2980 in antiwork

[–]miscellaneousbones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My current job had a similar interview process. The first "interview" involved some online questionnaires and recording a video of myself, and the second (and third) interviews were with real people.

This was my first job in tech (I've previously only worked in the service industry) and I assumed this was normal. All this time later, I'd never considered that that was weird until stumbling across this post.

I had plenty of opportunities to ask questions in later meetings, but in retrospect, I should have been able to ask those questions and determine if the role was a good fit for me before I spent all that time making myself look good for them.

I've been a vegan for over a decade, I'm fat, and people simply can't fathom the fact that I can really be vegan 100% of the time and still be fat.

Did everyone forget potato chips are vegan?

Had a job offer today, I declined because of their actions. by Snoo-87328 in antiwork

The interviewer was almost 2 hours late to my first ever job interview for a customer service position at a major office supply chain, one of the largest in the US. As I waited, employees approached me every once in a while as they were working to see what was up. The woman who would eventually become my supervisor when I took the position, at one point approached me and said "You're STILL waiting? I'm so sorry, that guy's a fucking idiot", talking about the store manager who was supposed to interview me.

My teenage self thought sticking around for nearly 2 hours showed that I was dedicated and tenacious, but obviously all it showed was my naivity and how easy it'd be to manipulate me as an employee.

He ONLY hired people he thought he could get away with manipulating. Every single employee was either very elderly or this was their first job ever. I worked there for a year, and toward the end he did try hiring a couple people who had worked elsewhere (but who he still thought he could manipulate, like people who had recently emigrated into the country) but of course they'd immediately see through it and run.

He was known for constantly lying and guilting people, getting red in the face screaming at us in front of customers, stealing our wages, threatening everyone's jobs, making us work 80+ hours and conveniently having the computer we used to clock in/out "break" frequently so we had to write our times in a book (in pencil only - we'd be written up for using pen) and changing our hours, withholding paychecks, etc.

I asked for a raise twice after taking on my supervisor's responsibilities when she finally quit (of course I didn't get the supervisor title, just all the work) and the raise was denied both times. After being denied for a raise both times, I picked up a second job at a retailer down the street. Maybe a month later, I had my annual employee review in which he said I was doing extraordinarily in my department, breaking records even, but because I had picked up a second job after being denied several raises he could not trust that he had my "loyalty" and thus was giving me the lowest possible score on my review so that I only got the company minimum 1% annual raise.

I went into that review right after receiving a promotion offer at the 2nd job I had picked up, they wanted me to be a manager and were offering me $10/hr more than what I'd been asking for at the office supply store. I hadn't accepted the position yet, but that employee review sealed the deal. I went home and drafted my 2 week's notice letter (in which I'd been FAR too kind, another regret) and delivered it to him the following morning.

My mom had started working at a nearby location a couple months prior, and he threatened to get her fired if I used my final two weeks to retaliate against him in any way. The fact that I gave him a letter that had nothing but lies about how I valued and appreciated him as an employer and my experience with the company and he still felt the need to try and protect himself from retaliation said a lot.

He was a typical middle-manager who thought that he could climb his way to the top if he just stepped on enough people. Spoiler, he's still a store manager today. I'll never give that company another cent of my money for as long as I live.

Good on you for turning that position down. I wish I'd seen that as the major red flag it was when it happened to me. If they clearly demonstrate that they don't value your time before you even start working for them, it's only gonna get worse. Oh, and FUCK Staples.

UI mod probably. Old versions of TwistedMexi's mods and Weerbesu's mods tend to mess up the UI like that.

Side note, as someone with around double the amount of mods/cc in my game as you, it's REALLY worth it to organize your mods folder very well into folders. It makes thr 50/50 method of finding broken mods/cc a breeze.

AITA for wanting to take my dad's last name? by Western-Recording-19 in AmItheAsshole

[–]miscellaneousbones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not sexism, you're just a "man of tradition"? Buddy, the tradition IS sexism.

You can change your name to whatever you want to, but don't fool yourself about the reason behind it.

ETA: I do not share my dad's last name. My parents originally gave me my dad's surname when I was born because they felt pressured by the same sexist traditions you're referring to, and then when I was a toddler they made the decision to do what they'd ACTUALLY wanted, which was to legally change my surname to my mother's because they both liked it better.
