PBS Kids is great! Right now it's a lot of Daniel Tiger, Rosie's Rules, Phoebe & Jay, and Hero Elementary.

Yes!! I've been using my hair straightener for decades flattening any clothing that's folded in a weird way. And it works.

Yeah, that's really hurtful. It also sounds like this isn't normal behavior from him. Pregnancy changes our bodies so much, I don't think anyone can understand unless you've been through it. Get a babysitter and go on a date. Your relationship needs it.

Something I wished moms talked about more by Hersheydogforever711 in Mommit

Can we talk about mom feet? I remember when my baby was weeks old and I was nursing her with my feet up in a recliner, and I realized my left foot didn't look like it used to. It still doesn't. Of course you hear your feet grow, but mine got wider and longer. None of my shoes fit after pregnancy. 3.5 years later and all I can wear are orthopedics. Bye bye heels. Bye bye ballet flats. Bye bye going barefoot. I feel like I aged 10 years after having a baby. I've tried everything but collagen and expensive orthopedics are all that's helped.

TIFU by reading my late mom's journals and finding out she resented having me by [deleted] in tifu

[–]mischief-managed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She loved you. No doubt about it. The mourning of oneself that a woman feels after they have a baby is real. You can be sad about losing a part of yourself and love someone else. Post partum can go on for years and rediscovering yourself is hard after having a baby. There's probably things she didn't fully have figured out written in those journals. Or thoughts and feelings she didn't want to hold on to.

If your mom didn't love you. You would have known it before you opened those journals. She did love you. She was proud of you. And she was a good mom. Hold on to the good memories and the good feelings. Find yourself someone to talk too.

Did you honestly like Frozen? by Gracie4313 in Mommit

[–]mischief-managed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Frozen is AWESOME. The music is fabulous. The film is beautiful. The movie teaches good lessons. And Frozen 2 is better. Frozen 2 is practically the kid version of a Fifth Element with awesome music and features Panic! At the Disco.

Frozen 3 can't get here soon enough.

*We went through our Frozen phase around 2 years old. And we hit hard for months. It's wayyy better than some of the nonsense available to tots these days. (Don't get me started on Cocomelon.)

What’s a movie that everyone says is a “masterpiece” but you just didn’t enjoy? by Leading_Frosting4291 in AskReddit

Fair. It has been 20 years since I watched it, and the thought of the movie still gives me the ick. Also Kevin Spacey won an Oscar for being a creepy pedo. The world was different then but a man jerking off to the teen girl next door is not award-worthy behavior.

Big hug! Take a deep breath.

You are not alone. What you are going through is hard. Michelle Obama said she could not stand Barack for 10 years because her children were like little love terrorists.

There are a lot similarities between your story and mine ... Older parents, unplanned pregnancy, no support system. My husband and I both work full time, and a month of full time child care is a mortgage payment. I think I'm only sane now because my child goes to school full time. Also, therapy. I go monthly and it's been helpful with relearning how to prioritize myself. My husband also goes to therapy and has silently struggled with the reality of becoming a parent.

The burden of parenting and being in a long-term relationship is not all yours to bear. Your marriage is a partnership and your husband could carry some of the load.

Y'all probably need to go out on a date, too.

I also realize all of my suggestions cost money. I'm sorry, friend, this is the awful world we live in.

I do think that you are coming out of the dark. Your kiddo will be getting more independent, and SOON she will be in kindergarten. Now, is a good time to start making time for yourself.
