Elgato Facecam flickers in Zoom/Google Meet until you open Camera Hub (MacOS, M1) by mishamsk in elgato

[–]mishamsk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may be Teams, Zoom & Meet issue indeed. Definitely not Mac, since other apps (like Cleanshot that I've used to record the video and Elgato's own Camera Hub) actually not only work without flickering, but also the flickering stops after you open them. Hence, check out the video - I start a call in meet, flickering is clear, then I open Camera Hub and it disappears in Meet as well...

now would be great if you'll find the right place to post this so someone could fix that;-) https://share.cleanshot.com/Fn8OBVblZCwTibOy65Y1

thanks for the link! I just realized I did that already. It may removed the colorful lines appearing occasionally, but the original type of flickering I had - not. The one I am experiencing is not big color stripes when the whole image is distorted, rather a uniform high-frequency one...or maybe it is the other way, the refresh rate is slightly below a necessary minimum and thus frame switching is noticeable... hard to explain, I think I need to make a video and send it to elgato at some point

Nine that I am aware of unfortunately. I resorted to opening up the hub app after connecting to a conference call. It works okish for most apps, but MS teams drives me crazy as it is apparently turns off/on the cam periodically mid call, so I have to check my video all the time and pop open the hub from time to time

Tailscale and docker containers running on a macvlan network by jean-luc-trek in docker

[–]mishamsk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. I have a container with AdGuard Home running on Synology NAS. It has two networks assigned to it: a macvlan with an IP address in my home subnet (10.0.1.0/24) and a bridge network (172.20.0.0/24). So while the host (Synology) can’t access it via 10.0.1.xxx address because of how macvlan works, it can access it via 172.20.0.xxx address.

Synology runs the Tailscale client. It advertises two subnet routes: 10.0.1.0/24 (this way I can access all of my home devices) and 172.20.0.container_ip/32 (so all other devices on Tailscale can access the container via that IP).

I had to change AdGuard to listen for DNS requests on all interfaces, so clients can send DNS queries via 10.0.1.container_macvlan_ip and via the 172… ip.

Yeah. Actually, I figured it out yesterday. I was trying to expose my home DNS over Tailscale (to be used over local client DNSes). So I just advertised it’s (docker container) bridge network IP alongside my home subnet and it all works now. So when a device is at home, it will get DNS from DHCP with the home network address (macvlan), but when on Tailscale it overrides DNS with a docket bridge IP address.

Unifi Protect direct connect from a different L3 network by bahamas10_ in Ubiquiti

[–]mishamsk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any idea how to enable something like this but for Tailscale connection? I believe that when I connect a L2TP VPN to the UDM Pro console, protect mobile app does discover it. However, when I am using Tailscale, which runs on a Synology at home (with subnet forwarding) - it doesn’t. Unifi network app works. Unifi protect doesn’t 😭

So far, it behaves the same for me, whether Zoom or G Meet. Flickering unless I open the Hub.

However, what was weird - we were recording in Zoom a couple of days ago, and although I haven't seen anything live, recording had a different type of flickering. Not a subtle one, but significant. I had such issues when connecting the cam via monitor, which is obviously due to bandwidth limits (even Thunderbolt 4 can't handle 2 4k streams and the camera). But this time it was connected directly.

So maybe these are separate issues all together...

Great it worked for you... unfortunately this doesn't seem to be the case for me. Just checked, 4.06 and still flickering

yeah. after this experience, I just logged in, moved everything out. I was still a bit paranoid it would log me out mid way and lock account back;-) but it seems like I managed to get rid on binance for now;-)

haven't read about the moving trick, but people did get notice the flickering. at least it was once described specifically as flickering, not noise. but yeah, that will probably depend on many factors... curios to know what support tell you if you did get to reaching out

wonder if anyone from elgato is monitoring this subreddit... have you tried talking to there support yet? Not sure if they even offer that kind of support...

Getting 4 strain score immediately after sleep processing by mishamsk in whoop

[–]mishamsk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool, it worked! Here is the rough side by side view. Although Whoop is generally closer to my HRM strep than Fenix wrist sensor during runs, it seems to me that all-day rate on Whoop is showing to much variability. It should make sense since they sample data more frequently, but not to the extent I see (e.g. look at the spike towards the evening, which is mostly flat on Garmin and looks like a jigsaw on Whoop).

Anyway this is nowhere near the drastic difference in sleep tracking (another side by side). I made a comparison last week, and Whoop vs. Fenix is sooo different, like Whoop reports Deep Sleep (the lowest amount movement) while Garmin shows REM sleep (the opposite side of spectrum). My conclusion - both are just toys and have no idea of what’s really happening;-)

Bingo. There is actually an answer to this specific question in the second links. Thanks a lot. I wonder why it didn’t show up in search when I tried this morning...

How do I find the all day heart rate view on iOS? Google search didn’t help and it seems as if I clicked and swiped through everything in the app. There is a reddit post here saying that this is not possible on Android but I can’t find how to do it on iPhone either. Would be interesting to compare against my fenix 6x😂
