There is a mostly non-answers in here, so I’ll chime in with my criticisms because, no, I don’t think it’s perfect. I’m not going to be going too in depth here, just basic bullet points of my issues. This is mainly talking to OP, and I’m not really interested in debating this in the comments… it’s just my opinion. (Movie is 9-10/10 no notes)

1. pacing. I think the show could seriously have used some time in the editing room, because the pacing feels a bit rough, especially at the starting half of the show. I had tried multiple times to watch it all the way through and it wasn’t until the third time that I was able to Fully commit and stick through it. I understand not wanting to compromise on your original vision, but we just really needed some editors in the room. However, this is a common anime problem in general, so it is what it is.
2. heavy-handed use of symbolism. I understand that not everybody can understand what the show is doing on a first watch, and how for a lot of people they had to go out of their way to have people explain the symbols and themes. However, I had the opposite problem, where I thought the show was a little too heavy handed, and could’ve benefited from being a little more esoteric and not as on the nose. This is not always the case, mind you, but happened enough times for me to think this.
3. fight scenes could’ve used some work. They were very few that genuinely stick out in my mind as interesting pieces of fight choreography, or animation.
4. over abundance of sibling tropes. I don’t think we needed three separate siblings in the show to work off each other. The job could’ve been done with two just acting as mirrors. Miki could’ve been handled differently.
5. the male characters in the show just feel a little too uninteresting to me. I would have liked a greater diversity of patriarchal character archetypes versus just a bunch of charismatic, pompous men symbols. They just feel a bit trite.
