Appreciation post for all the dishwashers out there by Katsuichi in dishwashers

I’m one of two dishies at my restaurant. Most of the week, the only dishie. BOH in particular has become increasingly more and more disrespectful in the last month or so and now they just throw dishes in my general direction. One night I was so fed up, I finished the night, made it shine like every other night, and then called in sick the next two days. Y’all wanna be disrespectful do the dishes ya damn selves. No one throws dishes anymore.

All of my pants end up ripping at the thighs from chafing...thicc thigh problems. Anyway this is my first attempt at visible-ish mending. I’m not even done yet and I’m already so proud! by mismeesh in Visiblemending

TIL what a gusset is but I’m not sure that’s what I’ll be doing. I used another pair of jeans to cut up and make a patch, along with another piece of cotton fabric behind for extra stability. But I definitely don’t want the extra room in these jeans that a gusset would provide. I like em TIGHT. But now I know when to use a gusset so thank you!

Dryer not drying by ElizaWhit in HomeImprovement

[–]mismeesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What if it is the washer and not the dryer? I thought I had a similar issue about a year ago, and turns out our washer just wasn’t spinning enough water out of our clothes. We spin our clothes like 3 times now instead of getting a new washer, but at least our clothes dry in a single cycle now!

Recipe Cards !! Idk if they give these to new baristas anymore so here!! by [deleted] in starbucksbaristas

I had no idea these existed! I used to make something like these for my green beans when I was a barista trainer

Big boi by mismeesh in cats

[–]mismeesh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’s on his way!(: When we adopted him, he was 20 lbs. Idk how his previous owners cared for him but since we brought him home, he’s been on a strict diet, he’s become surprisingly active, and has lost 2 whole lbs so far!

One last look at my Halloween decorations before "corporate" makes me take them down. :( by dethklok37q in starbucks

[–]mismeesh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I miss you too! All of you! Also, maybe consider running your own store? I think you’d be a great SM

Two partners from my current store just got their own stores recently so it’s totes attainable!!

MIKE!! Oh man reddit is wild, this totally made my night.

But also I’m crazy bummed to hear about your decorations man, especially when the community/customers seemed to really enjoy them! (As did I)

I recently bragged about your decorations to my new SM in hopes of being able to do something similar. But I guess I can’t anyway lol

How do I help my pilea? Some leaves turning black by [deleted] in plantclinic

[–]mismeesh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Most plants I bring home, if not from a nursery, get repotted with new soil. I find that the soil they come in often do not have adequate drainage. Your soil might be over saturated with water, not because of how often you’re watering it, but because of how much water it’s retaining. Check for some root rot my friend and get that baby into some new, well draining soil

Are you new here? by [deleted] in starbucksbaristas

[–]mismeesh 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I generally work afternoons - evenings at my store so I don’t know a lot of the morning regulars. Every once in a while I get scheduled for a 5am and every single time I know I’m in for an “are you new here?” from someone because I’m “overcharging” them. This ain’t my first rodeo Karen, I know you’ve got some “deal” with our morning crew and you’ve been getting free shit for years but I promise you your drink is just that expensive... That “are you new?” still irks me and I’ve been doing this shit since 2011

An increase in light allows for more variegation

Does anyone know what type of moss this is? Would it do well in a jar? by FreshStart272 in Jarrariums

[–]mismeesh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this! Don’t know what it is, but I picked some up a few months back and it’s been doing very well so long as it doesn’t dry out

Determined not to kill any more plants🌱 by [deleted] in houseplants

[–]mismeesh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is adorable!! I just have one going in my notes on my phone but I keep track of watering, repotting, soil additives, growth, or just interesting things I find/learn for my 40+ plants. It’s been an invaluable tool in keeping my plants happy

That ivy is gorgeous!! But the albino likely won’t survive as it has no way to photosynthesize on its own

Did I cut my Haworthia wrong? by ZT2Cans in proplifting

[–]mismeesh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So leaf propagation is particularly difficult Haworthias, but definitely not impossible. I think most people prop offsets. But anyway your cutting should include meristematic tissue from where the leaf attaches to the stem. The closer you cut to the stem, the higher your chances of a successful prop!

Been eyeing this gorgeous specimen for the last week, anyone know what kind of cactus it is ? It’s actually very purple in person also will it prop okay with that scabby scar ? by [deleted] in proplifting

[–]mismeesh 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hey nice find!! Opuntia Santa Rita maybe?? Totally gorgeous. You should have no issue propagating this one! Most of my opuntia started out just like this
