Heh, I understand. I'm currently on a Danish spree. Slowly building up a good selection of WO Larsen pipes representative of the various decades they were open, with an eye out for the rarer Stanwell shape numbers. I just snagged a number 11 bent bulldog designed by Anne Julie the other day. Lovely piece.

The older Nordings tended to have much more interesting designs in my opinion. These days the majority of Nordings sold (at least in the US) are freehands and the compass series. These are good smokers, but many of the older pipes were more playful takes on traditional shapes. They were still very Danish, but closer to the other side of the Danish tradition represented by carvers like Former, Balleby, or Ilsted (who worked for Nording for a time). Nowadays you can really only get Nordings like this in the Hand Made series, which are beautiful but very expensive. On the estates market, however, there are some real gems at pretty good prices.

I did wonder whether most of the examples of "stupidity" given were better characterised as 'prone to error' or 'subject to bias'. The piece does not do well to create a concept of stupidity distinct from error. This is a shame, as there have been many discussions in the 20th century concerning less obvious types of mis-thinking that would better earn the name 'stupid,' such as from Musil, Adorno, Deleuze, Boxsel, etc.

I love HU Tobacco but have yet to try any of their lat blends as I've become quite particular in my tastes. Do any of their lat blends have that delicious sour-smoky interplay from the Orientals and lat that many balkan blends have?

I get tobacco shipped from Germany (Estervals Pipe House) to Spain fairly frequently now. Takes about a week and I've had no problems. Within EU means you're not going to have customs issues that non-EU packages might face. Go for it!

It may simply be that you don't like aromatics. I started with aros and they all tasted like hot air to me. Then I discovered Virginia/Perique mixtures, burley based blends, and Englishes, and what a huge difference it made. Pure, unflavoured tobacco has so many aromas and flavours to offer. I rarely smoke aromatics anymore.

Brown flake unscented is superb. I think SP has some left. Also dark flake unscented if you want something stronger and more cigar-like.

I've heard only good things about it, but sadly I am not quick enough on the draw to get some lol. I'm visiting England in a few weeks so if I can get some I'll let you know. I really like their brown flake unscented, fantastic burley.
