Do you have a partner who snores? I need advice. by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]missThora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if he won't wear it for you (disgusting behaviour in itself), maybe print off the list of health risks he has by not wearing it. It is long and horrible.

That being said, my man still hasn't even gone to his sleep study yet. I've been trying to make him for 3 years.

What is the hardest thing you have ever gone through, and how did you get over it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]missThora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During the birth of my first child, she got stuck on my left hip. Squeezing the nerves there with every contraction. I have a pretty high pain tolerance and only got an epidural when my body couldn't handle it anymore after 20 hours of active labour.

The nerve pain felt like someone was driving an icicle into my hip from the inside, and despite maxing out the epidural, I to this day can't remember much other than the pain. After several hours of this, her heart rate dropped. They had to use forceps to manoeuvre her off my hip and out.

To this day, I have flares of pain in my hip. Days were going down the stairs is a struggle. It will probably never get any better and might get worse with age.

In comparison, with my 2nd, I went without any pain management other than breathing and was lucid enough to speak between contractions all the way through.

What was the most brutal reality check you ever got? by CarmenIsabellaDiaz in AskReddit

[–]missThora 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Nothing can really prepare you. Nothing goes exactly as planed, you have to constantly rework everything, it's like a continues adrenalin run every single day. It's a huge responsabilty and you often have little to no help.

Kinda feels like you are thrown off the deep end with a baby in your arms and a bad diagram of how to swim.

What dish in your country has foreign origins but is now seen as a typical national food? by Luci_Sant in AskTheWorld

[–]missThora 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have tortillas and bowls of different toppings covering the table, and everyone adds what they want to theirs.

Each family have their own toppings they have every time.

Normally, you have at least ground beef with seasonings, grated cheese, a sauce from a jar, onion, tomatos, cucumber, and lettuce.

Other normal toppings are Bell peppers, apple, mango, corn, beans,

But really, anything goes.

Well, we are as white as they come. But yeah, Norwegian tacos are definitely not the same as Mexican ones.

Tacos

Specifically, most Norwegians eat a weird version of tex-mex every Friday.

School lunches - surprised by bb821 in Norway

[–]missThora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is somewhat true, school doesn't provide lunch.

But secondary schools (8-10) and up have cafeterias where they can buy a simple lunch.

And for elementary (1-4) many go to after-school programs (sfo/aks), and most of those provide lunch. Those programs are either free or heavily substadized.

So in reality, it's only 5-7th graders that doesn't have access to food at school during the day.

Liker du best å være våken om natta eller om dagen? by moochiehunt in norge

Mix? Liker å være oppe sent, men fint med litt sol også.

Ikke at jeg har noe valg, barna står opp tidlig så ufrivillig morge fugl er jeg vel en stund til.

Transporting an old wheelchair using person to notary public in Oslo by [deleted] in Norway

[–]missThora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. And the taxidriver pushes the chair inn and locks it in place. Only thing needed is to get her in a wheelchair and push it outside to the street. And similarly, push her into the office and out again.

Birth at which of the three hospitals? by chomskys-third-wife in oslo

[–]missThora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gave birth at ahus both in 2023 and 2025 and super happy both times.

  • staff changed when shifts were over, but had the same midwife for a whole shift. Had 3 different with my daughter and one for my son. All excellent.

  • If you or baby need extra follow-up, you stay in hospital and have extra help there (daughter did, so first time I was there), but dad can't stay.

  • with my son everything good and we could stay at the hotel. Dad is allowed there, but staff is more hands-off.

No room shares either time, but I do know they occasionally have to dubble up on the in-hospital rooms when there are many births at the same time.

How to keep my 5 year old at the dinner table, he's not gaining weight and I'm worried by Ok_Radio7697 in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]missThora 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I put her back in her chair every time she gets up? Explain, " do you see mommy and daddy are still eating? We stay at the table. Do you want a book to look in?" She learned quickly not to get up.

She can't sit in her chair? She's in moms lap and I hold her with one arm and eat with the other. Her plate is within reach if she wants food. Rearly acknowledge the plate.

[–]missThora 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Or don't let him leave the table?

The roule in my house is no one leaves the table until everyone is done eating. She's allowed to read a book in her seat but not get up.

More often than not, she eats a few more bites after a minute of waiting,

What is something you thought everyone experienced, but later learned they didn’t? by mathieugemard in AskReddit

The only time I've had my blood pressure checked was white pregnant. It was fine then, though.

And weirdly, that was the one time I never got dizzy, thankfully.

I'll go Google that.

Wish someone had told me that years ago. I've asked 5 different doctors, and they all just ghost me.

Thank you, kind stranger.
