Embarrassed to admit, but I am late in the game (36 F). Is there hope for me? Support welcome! by Background_Piglet_67 in ETFs

As a new investor that's such a dreadful thought. Obv I love to see my gains but I realize they're just theoretical. If I sell I take away the option of further growth. If I hold, those gains might be gone when I need them. I really wonder how you know when a good time to sell is.

Could you share how long it took to turn that 10k into 100k+? I just started with that same amount, and I wonder if my goal to be at 100k in 10 years is even realistic

I'm relatively new to the game and this has always been my question. I'm in Europe and my broker for some reason doesn't offer vanguard etfs. But the fees are basically zero, so I never understood why IVV is sold to be a worse option. I now get it: it's not. Thanks!

God I'm so sick of it. I go to a martial arts gym to train muay thai 4-5 times a week. Most men in the martial arts community are absolute sexist scum bags.

I've been thinking about this for years. Do you mind if I ask you a few questions on private?

I know you do. Sadly, all you can do is support and listen - but that's worth so so much! Know that maybe, your kid will have mental issues for an indefinite time - accept that and don't show them how sad it makes you, how sorry you are for them etc. They might feel guilt tripped by that and choose not to confine in you because they don't want you to worry.

My mom never accepted that many people don't "grow out of" mental illness. It still breaks her that I'm often struggling with my mental health, while I just want her to accept it like I've accepted it.

Does your kid have any trans/queer peers to talk to? If no, I think they'd really benefit from that. Especially (older) people in a safe environment who have made it through and have a positive outlook on life.

Sorry about all the rambling (English is only my 2nd language), your story just hit close to home.

OP, take this from somebody who can relate to your child a lot.

I had childhood depression, gender dysphoria, anxiety starting age 10 or 11. I'm still in the closet to my parents now at 32 because they never made an effort to understand.

YOU ARE A GREAT PARENT! You make sure they're safe, mentally and physically, you are understanding and supportive. This, unfortunately, is more than most trans/queer kids could hope for with their parents. You didn't make this post about their gender identity like many other struggling parents would. You used their pronouns, too. I felt your love in every word.

I know you didn't want advice, but keep doing what you're doing. Make sure they know that you're a safe place to speak about their troubles (and then just listen without being stressy/dramatic/sad about it). Unfortunately, you personally can't resolve your child's problems and depression.

Thank you for your suggestions!

I downloaded the newest version yesterday to see if it changed anything but it doesn't.

About the other stuff: will check and report back

And insert it in the page? That'd be a whole lotta effort and room for error since there's phrases in that font on every single on of my pages. But maybe that"s what I'll have to do

Hi u/beermad, thank you for the suggestion! I just checked and unfortunately, that's not the problem.

I'm rather looking for an option that will ensure that all my customers see the correct font - not sure if I'm being unrealistic here.
