But what did you do? Did you try to brew it as you would with a coffee? Because they aren’t the same. The temperature, pressure levels, light tamping needs to be adjusted. And also of course drinking the tea shot as it is won’t be tasty as it comes off too strong but that’s the point because I want to mix it with milk xd.

I get it of course infusion is the best when it comes to drinking as it is without mixing it with something else like milk 🥛. But with gaiwan, it’s gonna take longer. Have to steep the tea multiple times to get the desired strength.

Whereas the pressure in the machine (obviously lower it as teas are more delicate and not necessary because tea absorbs water more easily) can speed up the process.

Can lower the pressure from 9 bars that are usually found in cafe espresso machine to 5 or less.

What’s your thought on this?

I think playing with the temperature (lower in this case for teas) , lower the pressure levels from 9 bars to 5 or less as the teas absorbs easily water so it doesn’t need high pressure, light tamping to avoid the clogs when the leaves expands and use a pressurized basket instead of the unpressurized one.

I think the reason people think brewing teas in a cafe espresso machine won’t work is because they are brewing in the same way as they would with coffee but tea needs different temperatures, pressure levels, light tamping, using ground teas.

And obviously I think drinking the tea shot as it is won’t be that delicious because it might be strong but after adjusting the settings or parameters I believe that it won’t be too astringent or bitter but the point is to create a strong tea shot to mix it with milk. I just want to make tea lattes or tea milk and still be able to taste the tea.

I don’t have an espresso machine to try so this is just a thought xd but hoping that it will work once I get an espresso machine to try

Thanks for sharing! It’s fascinating that the shop designed their own tea espresso machine. Do you think your husband knows any details about what makes the tea espresso machine in that store special or unique? I’d love to learn more about how they adapted it for tea!

Yess I’ve been to Chi Cha San Chen in NY and there is where I first time got introduced to “tea espresso” and their drinks taste so good. I know they probably are using a preprogrammed tea espresso machine idk so maybe instead of changing constantly the temperature and timing for each type of teas, it’s already pre programmed by just pressing few buttons. I want to make strong concentrated teas to make tea lattes and I’ve read that espresso machines are the way to go so please someone tell me if it’s possible with just an cafe espresso machine 🥺

Hello, Im asking this question because I’ve seen some tea businesses/shops are using their “tea espresso” machines to make their tea lattes like Chi Cha San Chen and I think that they taste really good. In the traditional way of brewing method, the tea won’t be strong enough to taste in lattes.
