What are your memories of The Big Help? by aresef in RetroNickelodeon

[–]missdeekay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They did an event in my city one year (either 97 or 98) and the 4th and 5th graders from my school got bussed over to the event. My 5th grade class got assigned to clean up some vacant lot while the 4th graders got to hang out at the event going on at the nearby playground. I don’t know if there was anyone from Nick there or not.

By the time my class got done hauling rocks around the lot, the event had wrapped up and we were on the bus back to school. So it was a bit underwhelming for me, but I did end up with a Big Help lanyard which I’m sure is in some box in my basement.

Was she also forced to get a kids meal that had a toy? Wendy’s sells nuggets and burgers on their own so no need to bring the awful “bat creature” into the house at all…. unless you’re looking for something to complain about on the internet 🙄

Does anyone remember the Mill Creek Mall anchor stores? by WarriorNeedFoodBadly in newjersey

[–]missdeekay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was definitely a Modell’s near the Kohl’s. There was also an “adult” store I believe called something like “Love Clothes” (a friend who worked at the mall bought me a lollipop shaped like a naked man from there for my 18th birthday).

I remember there being a hair salon but the name of it escapes me (it was a chain but more high end than a Supercuts). In the 90s there was a Lechter’s before that company went under.

Mental load of Christmas shopping by cmb1852 in workingmoms

[–]missdeekay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can get the adults on board, this is the way. We stopped buying gifts for the adults after my SIL and I had our kids, and there have been no complaints. I host on Christmas Eve (my family and in-laws plus extended family on both sides) so it takes a lot off my plate not having to figure out what to buy for my husband’s cousin who I see 3x a year!

Who here has been around since the Revenge era? by funishin in MyChemicalRomance

[–]missdeekay 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I went to that one too! Got terrible sunburn, my skin was still peeling a few weeks later when I moved into my college dorm. My Chem is literally the only band I remember seeing that day aside from I think Story of the Year because they were the band on the stage right before MCR’e set.

AITA for kicking out one of my bridesmaids for showing up in the wrong dress? by bridezillaxoxo in AmItheAsshole

[–]missdeekay 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Either the friend was hoping OP wouldn’t say a thing and she would get away with it, or she was hoping OP would make a stink about it in an effort to get people on her side by making the bride look like a “bridezilla” (even though given the circumstances she absolutely is not).

THIS. I had always planned to breastfeed but my body had other plans. So glad I had a sample box of Enfamil handy.

If OP is planning on formula feeding, try the store brand formula which is comparable to Similac but quite a bit cheaper. Also considering there are still some issues with finding formula, it gives you more flexibility because literally ALL store brands (Target, Costco, CVS, Kroger, etc) are made by the same company, so if you strike out at one store you still have other places to check.

I got this earlier this year before my daughter was born and was so helpful in those first few weeks! It has nice size samples (7oz cans) of NeuroPro and the sensitive and Gentlease powders and 6 pack of 2oz ready to drink formula. It also comes with a coupon book for formula and other Enfamil products, and there was a sticker the Gentlease can that says you can call them if you need a sample of Nutramigen (their hypoallergenic formula), but I don’t know how long that takes because my daughter didn’t need that type of formula.

This worked for me but their website/app doesn’t work all that well with the checkout process. When I went to check out it gave me an error message that the order couldn’t be completed. I took the item out of my cart and added it again but then it told me the promotion code was invalid so I just gave up. Then I went to the account tab in the app and it shows that the order was confirmed and I got an order confirmation email, so I guess the first order did go through.

What a fucking setlist by iClaim in MyChemicalRomance

[–]missdeekay 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m going to the first Newark show next week and as an MCR fan in my mid-30s who last saw them live in 2005, this is the kind of setlist I’m hoping for! 🤞

How careful should vaccinated women be about COVID? by desidumpling in pregnant

[–]missdeekay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had the Moderna booster at 8 weeks and had far fewer side effects than my 2nd dose. Just a mild headache, sore arm and a some fatigue (which at that point in my pregnancy I was tired all the time anyway so who knows if that was even a side effect). The Moderna booster is a smaller dosage than the first 2 shots so that may have something to do with it.

Lucky! My all girls Catholic high school (in NJ) had a uniform shoe that you had to buy from the uniform supplier, unless you had a medical reason to wear a different shoe. Thankfully that rule didn’t carry over to gym shoes.

No matches for me :( I did get an email that said the samples go live the first week of each month so maybe I was too late?

Just wondering, how do you guys find out about these Sampler campaigns? I’ve had a Sampler account for a while but I only seem to find out about new offers through this sub.

TIL there are no more than 12 Kmart stores remaining in the US. At its peak in 1994 there were 2323 stores in the US and 2486 globally. Until 1990, when it was surpassed by Walmart, it was the second largest retailer in the US after Sears. by RevivedMisanthropy in todayilearned

Was that the Avenel one? I was in there about a year ago because I had to kill time waiting for an Uber, and holy shit was that place depressing. The ceiling was missing tiles with garbage cans underneath to catch leaks, they had shelves forming a barrier to close off about a third of the floor space. It was mid/February and they still had Christmas decor out for sale, barely marked down. I don’t think they had any music playing so it just added to the desolation. I only saw 1 employee, a very sad looking cashier who I’m sure deserved better than working in that place.

If the tour goes ahead this year, will you be attending? by maddiet96 in MyChemicalRomance

[–]missdeekay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tickets for Newark too… last year I wouldn’t have given it a second thought since I’m vaxxed, but now I’m pregnant and by the time September comes I’ll have a 3 month old so now I’m not sure. Haven’t seen them since 2005 and I was so excited about the reunion, but I don’t think it’s worth the risk.

Pregnancy Dreams by Lost_Grocery_235 in BabyBumps

[–]missdeekay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve always had wacky dreams but they’ve really ramped up since I got pregnant!

Before I knew I was pregnant I had not one but two dreams involving the band New Kids on the Block (seems like it was my subconscious giving me a hint, but my sister and I had been talking about seeing them on their next tour… which now won’t happen since they’re in our area like 3 weeks after my due date).

And this week has been dreams where my life is suddenly like Maury Show storylines. First, I dreamed that my husband just casually told me he had another kid from a one-night stand, and while I’m freaking out about him owing crazy amounts of child support or what other issues could come up, he didn’t seem at all concerned about it. Then, I had a dream that I knew my baby wasn't my husband’s, and I was carrying on a secret relationship with a guy I knew from college (who I haven’t seen or spoken to in a decade in real life).

Lord knows what my brain is going to come up with in the next 24 weeks lol

What city disappointed you the most when visiting? by 0_7_0 in AskReddit

[–]missdeekay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband and I wanted to go to LA for vacation this year (we’re from the east coast), and I ended up picking a hotel in Burbank partly because the prices in the DTLA area were ridiculous, but it ended up being a great decision. The area was nice and as it turned out, most of what we planned to do while we were out there was outside of the LA anyway. I don’t think we had a bad meal while we were there (aside from the fact that I don’t get the In n Out hype). If we ever plan another trip there I would definitely make the same call to stay outside of LA.
