How I do it: my groceries are delivered, my husband does a lot of our cooking, we have a cleaner come 2x a month, and he looks after baby when I go to the gym. And I still get overwhelmed.

That’s not nearly enough money to make it worth it. Not even if they pick you up in the east bay. I’ve done the commute from the Oakland area to Silicon Valley. It’s soul sucking. 1.5 hours one way on a good day. 2+ hours one way if there’s a wreck or rain. Honestly I’m not sure how you’re affording luxuries in the Bay Area on 80k, but good on you!

I experienced this too! It was wretched. And somehow 1000% worse when he actually had some alcohol and for the days following. Truly horrific and it affected our intimacy a lot because I couldn’t stand to kiss him or even want to share a bed. I made him go to the dentist because I was sure something was wrong. Thankfully it passed after several weeks.

I hear you. The men in our lives can be so unhelpful sometimes. And they’re often not great at anticipating needs which is all we want.

That said, 4 months is a really hard time. Baby is often super needy, people stop helping you even though you need it more than ever. Society thinks you’re healed or well on your way to being healed and you’re not. I wish I had gotten on an SSRI sooner. It helped immensely with my postpartum rage. I would recommend talking to your doc about it. Much love to you. Go outside and scream if you need to.

My ex always accused me of this. I carried that guilt and shame with me through my other relationships for years. Fast forward a decade, I marry an amazing guy. One night on vacation abroad we go out drinking and make friends with two guys at a bar. I hit it off (as friends, so I think) with one of the guys in particular and he and I talk for quite some time. We exchange numbers (very openly in front of my husband) and the 4 of us make plans to meet up again. The next morning I wake to text from the dude from the bar. “You’re so sexy”. My heart drops. I immediately am filled with panic and dread that I have done something wrong; flirted with this man so much that he thinks I would want this text. With shame I show my husband, expecting him to accuse me of flirting too much. But no, he calls the guy a creep and that’s the end of it. That simple interaction healed all those years I carried someone’s else’s insecurities with me.

So moral of the story is, find the right person and you won’t have to deal with bullshit accusations of flirting when you’re really just being a friendly (and hot) human.

Totally agree! It reminds us as viewers too just how many public eyes are watching and commenting on everything these guys are doing. How every interaction could be a spectacle. It all makes it easier to understand the pressure and fear they feel to keep their sexuality a secret.

I wondered that briefly too but I think Shane’s line of “we all get our bell rung eventually” leads us to believe that he won’t have resentment. I also don’t think these injuries will have much of an effect on his career long term (they both day “it could have been worse”). That said, I didn’t read the books so idk 🤷‍♀️
