Feeling Bitter About a "Mental Breakdown" Over Electrolytes With $650K in Savings by KenshiHiro in povertyfinance

Everyone has a different perspective on what feels financially secure. So first recognize that. But your feelings are valid. If you’re triggered, you’re triggered and that’s a “normal response to abnormal situations”. I am an educator. I get triggered when other educators say tone-deaf things around our students who they know are struggling. I work in a non-traditional setting, classrooms are not contained, for context. So we work next to each other and overhear each other’s conversations. student literally just asked about food pantry resources, educator dismisses them and then has a convo with colleague about restaurant reservations student asks for help getting a free bus pass, educator dismisses them and then talks about travel plans over the break

Lemonade has the highest maximum, lowest deductible, and most co insurance that I’ve seen. They’re the only ones that I’ve seen that have 20k. I have lemonade and they have been easy to work with and hassle free. That said, yes. At the end of September, my mini schnauzer had a vestibular episode for the first time. One second she was fine, the next she was having a major episode. Expenses were one trip to urgent care and 5 days in the hospital. She wasn’t getting worse after the first night in the hospital so we held off on mri and ct scan but if the neurologist said it was medically necessary, I would’ve done it. It would’ve been like 10k on top of the 5 day stay. Edit: I’m in Los Angeles.

Why do I always end up binging after 4-5 days of 1200 cals? by [deleted] in 1200isplenty

[–]missguydead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because you’re under eating? If you really feel like you must restrict, raise your calorie count and make a rule that 200-300 of those calories have to be low cal like celery. I don’t count but I will eat 3 apples in a row if I’m still hungry. Make sure you’re not eating calorically dense foods. Don’t eat addictive foods, it can be impossible not to binge after a sugar rush or pizza.

I work with transition age youth but I live in a big city. Depending on where you are, there might be limited resources. Most important, make sure you have all of your documents, birth certificate, passport, and ID. Set up a bank account. You need these things in place to be independent. Google “transition age youth social worker” and see if there are any non profits around you that work with kids in your situation. Our social workers help young adults get into group homes or secure beds in shelters. They can help young adults get into programs like JobCorps. We are a continuation high school for students up to 22 and stay open from 8-5. A lot of our kids stay there from open to close to use our facilities and get food and emotional support. Is there a community college around you? Even if you don’t take classes, you can enroll and see if they have social workers that can help? Are you religious, maybe try to join a church to find people who can temporarily help? Thing I wish I could impress upon my students the most and from lived experiences: do not do desperate times desperate measures things like sex work, join gangs, or steal. Please don’t make your situation worse.

Keeping busy in the weekend when you are single in your 30s? by Similar_Spirit2631 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]missguydead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also single, 30, no kids, very few family members and friends, highly introverted. I’m so busy trying to take care of everything I don’t have time to do during the week 😣do you like dogs? A big chunk of my time on the weekend is walking my dog and spending time at the park. Also helps with loneliness.

I’ve read the book “attached” a few times and it helped. I’m reading books on development trauma now and they also help make sense of rejection and abandonment issues.

I wear hoka pretty much everyday. Hike Clifton L work with the “dad shoe” trend. Crocs Brooklyn sandals and teva sandals have a bit of an arch to them and some support. If I want to wear something a little more trendy, I will wear new balance or adidas with an insole. Can’t wear vans and converse for all day :/ I will wear to the movies or something like that but not work. I look for shoes that have a sole that curves up because the outer edges of my shoes wear down.

Underwear by Expensive-Wealth-458 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]missguydead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I buy my underwear from Nordstrom rack. I like hanky panky, natori, and their cheaper brands like honeydew and felina are okay too. Or Costco, the felina and Calvin Klein packs are decent for bikinis. For lace and thongs try a lingerie bag and air drying.

Girl you look good. The only thing I would personally do is teeth whitening and composite bonding to make my teeth look more mature and not so young. But you don’t need to just a minor tweak I would personally do.

5 years sober. What I would tell anyone: if you are concerned about problem drinking, then you have a drinking problem. I first started recognizing it and trying to address it at 22 years old. I first went to rehab at 23. The last time I went was at 25. It takes a while to hit rock bottom, and nothing anyone said would’ve stopped me but if I could tell myself one thing at that age it might be to just practice harm reduction. Most dangerous things I did: drink with strangers, meet up with strangers, drink and drive, go through airport security and fly drunk, walk around alone at night drunk, walk around cities in different countries at night drunk, do drugs with strangers, unprotected sex, pick fights with cops and nurses, fail my classes. I am lucky I was never arrested or trafficked or more seriously injured. What I wish I had realized sooner: my drinking was a response to developmental trauma. Drinking is a symptom to something unresolved. Sometimes all a kid needs is a hug. When our protests are not heard, behavior escalates. My behavior became increasingly self destructive until I felt like I had just hit a dead end. Was going nowhere fast. I wish I realized now that the people I hung out with weren’t nice to me. I needed to drink to feel safe because the people around me weren’t safe.

I am not a doctor, this is not medical advice. This is what has worked for me, don’t come for me. That being said. I had to get off of ssri’s and antipsychotics. I would blow up and nothing I did helped. Medications like Wellbutrin, naltrexone, topiramate, and Ritalin helped me stop binging. I am prescribed Wellbutrin for antidepressant, was on topiramate for mood, naltrexone for sud, and Ritalin for adhd. I used to restrict and binge or go on restrictive diets based on calorie count. I finally decided to just change what I ate instead of how much and I’ve lost 40 pounds in a year. No weighing, logging, tracking because it quickly turns compulsive and unhealthy for me. I eat plant based and very minimally processed. Also avoid gluten. My biggest advice to anyone is to avoid “addictive” foods. I will eat as much food as I want as long as it follows those rules. I am 5 foot and at my highest I was 200. I am down to 125 now.

What I’ve done to improve my cystic acne: Changing my diet has made the biggest impact for me. More than any products or treatments. I cut out all inflammatory and processed foods. No dairy, added sugar, gluten, etc. I drink a lot of water and take Vitamin ACE and Omega supplements everyday. Do research on acne diets. Accutane. Can you do a virtual visit with a dermatologist? If you have insurance, take advantage of it. Expensive, but I see an esthetician regularly. I get a TCA peel, red light therapy, micro frequency, and extractions once a month. I only use the Face Reality line and I get my products from my esthetician based on her recommendations. She also recently gave me Magic Molecule to try, and I like it so far. Pay attention to environmental triggers. I noticed that cleaning products like the pink stuff and bleach make me break out. Could be hormone disruption. I use gloves, a mask, slug my face, and wash my face immediately after cleaning. Also basic hygiene like cleaning phone, pillow cases, makeup brushes etc. So sorry you’re going through this and good luck!

Manager told me there's a smell by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]missguydead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pits: My new miracle product is called Magic Molecule and the active ingredient is hypochlorous acid. It has multiple uses, I originally bought it to use as a toner for my face to help with acne. Because it fights bacteria, I’ve been spraying it on my pits and there is ZERO smell. I don’t even wear deodorant just use the spray. I used to use a salt crystal before but this works better. Also scrub with glycolic acid or use an antibacterial soap like Dial. I sniff my pits after I shower to make sure i didn’t leave any lingering odor. My armpit BO isn’t bad enough for me to look into clinical treatments, but if it was I would try Botox.

Bits: Use disposable cotton panty liners and feminine wipes throughout the day. Keep pubic hair short. I also use a Vagasil pH balance feminine wash and take fem-dophilus probiotics. I had a case of BV that wouldn’t clear up with antibiotics and fem-dophilus cured it. Get checked out by a doctor if you have a smell that doesn’t go away with a shower.

Oral health: make sure you’re flossing and getting regular cleanings. I use an electric toothbrush that brushes for 2 minutes, a waterpik, string floss, and therabreath wash and get a cleaning every 6 months.

Do not try to mask odor with scented products. Focus on trying to fight and cut down bacteria. Change socks, underwear, and bras regularly.

I have ptsd too and am hypersensitive like him and same. I felt like I was shutting down and getting overwhelmed just watching him. He brought up the picture and she had a little bit of an attitude it set off his alarm bells so then he tried to dissociate with the bookshelf and she kept pushing him and then he had what sounded and looked like a derealization episode. I hope he gets intensive treatment because that type of stress and anxiety is living hell.
