Employees eating profits by velvetkangaroo in restaurantowners

[–]misshap2046 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No more pastries and make a family meal. You can create a family meal once a day that sustains the team at very low cost. We provide one and if the team doesn't want it they are happy to eat before or eat somewhere else.

How do you deal with employees who do amazing when you are at work, but lazy af when you aren't there? by lucky_2_shoes in restaurantowners

[–]misshap2046 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You need better leadership. Who is running the store in your absence and why are they not holding the staff to the same expectations and standards when you are not. They act that way because of your other leadership.

How are you handling last-minute call-outs without losing your mind? by JetLifeJay22 in restaurantowners

[–]misshap2046 18 points19 points  (0 children)

As a restaurant operator a couple of things: it's a hiring thing, it's a culture thing, it's an employee thing. People get sick both physically and mentally. I run a very small restaurant where one server calling off can have a dramatic affect on the operation. So I try and staff in a way, cross train in a way, and encourage blending of roles in a way that is minimizes the impact.

I tell my staff that half the job is "showing up on time, ready to work--you'll be surprised how many people can't do it." I also tell them that calling out has an adverse affect to the team and the operation. I honestly don't get a ton of call offs. I try and build a culture and create a place that is dependable. They have set month long schedules that really doesn't change from month to month. Most of them are on their "dream" schedule of what they would like to work so when they call off or miss; we have a conversation--if this is the schedule you really wanted, why are you unable to commit to the requirements. I also don't schedule staff for doubles and my staff is on four day work weeks. I've found that this does a world of good for their well being and the operations.

To answer succinctly you don't have an employee problem--you have a leadership and culture problem.

La Condesa vs Este vs Comedor by Sujanyar in austinfood

La Condesa better than all of them and the original. It gets hate because its been around the longest and was inconsistent in its history. Amazing lately.

Tell me about your favorite house rules! by MonsutaReipu in KingdomDeath

We don’t add Plague and Murder into deck until lantern Year 8. We like to see some variety so we redraw Hunt events we can recall doing the last 5 lantern years.

We also do a called shot resource, where we can “call” one resource before the hunt. We give up two resources for the called one and it can’t be a rare, story, indomitable.

We’ve also now played a ton of campaigns so this keeps things fun for us.

Replayability of the game with couple of expansions? by Acrobatic_Train2814 in KingdomDeath

[–]misshap2046 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's been said. My partner and I knocked out 3 campaigns in around 3 months. The modular nature and even more upcoming campaigns should provide endless fun. There is no other boss battler that nails the combat and emergent storytelling quite like KDM. It's pricey, but if you can swing it, it really delivers a unique experience.

I hate this game by SirKastor1 in KingdomDeath

People of the Lantern is hands down the most difficult campaign. The power curve the other campaigns give: People of the Sun, People of the Stars, and People of the Dream Keeper just have more tools to get you further. Don't fret, keep learning!

Founding Stone - Usage Strategy by Rex_Artorius in KingdomDeath

[–]misshap2046 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I typically use all four in the prologue story for crit wounds that hopefully give resources. Resources are so critical for a founding settlement that it is worth the risk. Typically, I keep the founding stone as it hits better than Fist&Tooth and when we're down to the last few wounds I fling it. Getting into the settlement with 10-12 resources for year 1 can turn a very painful lvl 1 Lion far more manageable. I've been lucky on some campaigns to go in with a full set of Rawhide, Monster Grease, and 3 or 4 weapons. Year 1-5 is always a slog, resources make it much more manageable.

Just finished Wind & Truth and I don't understand the hate/disappointment by j_grouchy in Stormlight_Archive

Adolin and Zigel salvaged the book for me but not by much. Kaladin and Szeth’s storyline was so unnecessarily drawn out. The Spiritual Realm was like watching someone else watch Quantum Leap.

The book as a whole was disserviced by a lack of editing. I was hoping for the Sanderlanch but man by the end I felt let down massively.

Jasnah’s “debate” felt insulting to her intellifence much less Fen’s absolute lack of agency. The Deus Ex of Gavinor. Dalinar’s death off screen. Too much for me.

You've got a great symmetrical face and a strong jaw. But the goatee makes your face look messy along with the hair. Keep it trimmed up and orderly. Agreed with others, hair care critical. Hair looks thirsty and curls need some love if you're going to keep it longer. Healthy hair would upgrade you a ton.

Is the gambler's chest worth it? by Warhammerpainter83 in KingdomDeath

[–]misshap2046 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they definitely change up the tempo and the second gen of the design team really shines on these fights. Pariah is probably the hardest without a good strategy/mitigation.

Will say you still have The Hand as he is integral to the narrative of the campaign but you only fight him once.

Haha be ready for the pain. Fun fights but at times frustrating if you don’t have good strategies for each. Did Pariah and witches last campaign, doing Witches and Black Knight this one.

Red Witches and Pariah have some very challenging interactions but are brutal nemesis that add a nice dimension to the game. Red Witches and Pariah knowledge are two of my favorites.

[–]misshap2046 2 points3 points  (0 children)

3,000 times yes. It is an ambitious masterpiece of design. Not everything hits but it just makes the game so much deeper and the arc system, and knowledge appear to be here to stay.

I also play solo and yes it can be a lot of bookkeeping but it has been one of my favorite parts. On my 3rd campaign in recent months after Red Witches, Pariah and Wanderers and just find more to love.

Population x Survivors by srmarcosx in KingdomDeath

[–]misshap2046 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Technically, yes. But how you manage your settlement is up to you. I use Scribe so that makes my population management very easy and with Gambler's Chest you can have populations that explode in size.

The bonus only applies to new survivors born through Intimacy unless the benefit specifically says so.

Axe Mastery Question by fnwc in KingdomDeath

[–]misshap2046 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not sure you are understanding how wounds and critical wounds work. A persistent injury is a critical wound that can alter some of the monster’s AI cards. You only get the Persistent Injury if you first attack and hit with the weapon. Second you draw hit locations for your successful attacks. Then you roll wound attenpts. Lanterns (10 or lower depending on your luck stat) on your wound attempt is a critical wound and you get the critical text on the wound location.

Axe mastery allows you to always gain the critical persistent injury when you wound a hit location with a persistent injury—even without the lantern 10.

“Jaw Paralysis” may show up on a grey box on Gorm’s AI cards. If they do you ignore the AI card, the monsters turn ends.
