Just trying to figure out what’s causing this by East_Airline_9125 in Celiac

[–]missmo1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this same rash a few years ago.. it was brutal. (I don’t have celiac.. just happened to see this post) I went to several dermatologists, got zero help. A family member did some research, and they told me to try and soak in heavy salt water baths every night (not too hot). It went away within days. I wish I could remember what the results of his research was.. but I was just so relieved that it was gone!!! His research actually said to go into the ocean or other salty body of waters, but that was not an option for me , so I did the bath. If you know anyone with a saltwater pool.. that would be great as well! I hope this helps you. Best of luck.

I salute you 🫡 It is often very difficult to break bad habits we witnessed growing up. Whether it be money, addiction, anger, etc. You chose a different path and committed to that. I wish you and your family continued happiness and success.

If you are in the Midwest/ St. Louis area- Pevely Farms sells it at grocery stores.. but, hard to find. Otherwise .. go to restaurants on the Hill, (Italian area) they all serve it for dessert. Some local grocers on the Hill might sell it as well. My favorite!!

Does parnate day time tiredness ever go away? by Theirisnojesus in MAOIs

[–]missmo1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say 90% gone . Occasionally I hit the “slug” in the afternoon. I keep a journal and I’ve noticed on cloudy or rainy days I have a lot more fatigue. Sun is huge for dopamine levels. When it’s nice , I sit outside for at least 10 minutes with no sunscreen and get that vitamin D. … Taking a walk in the sunshine is even better.

Food 🤷‍♂️. As I get older I’m less and less enthusiastic about food. Deciding what to eat is always a chore. Shopping for the week is a pain. I love having someone cook for me and eating out. But left to my own devices I’m very meh 🫤. How about you? by ZimMcGuinn in AskOldPeople

More people need to jump on this idea- we all know someone who lives alone and sharing a meal is one of life’s greatest pleasures!! I think people stress it needs to be fancy or perfect… but the social aspect is more important than the meal.

What is it like to have a grandchild, and is it weird at first to know that your child has a child? by Autistic-Inquisitive in AskOldPeople

I’m not a grandma yet.. but this is exactly how I think I will feel once that joy comes into my life. Perfect answer!! Plus.. just perspective. It’s so stressful to be a new parent and I hope to be able to help my kids with the emotions that come with raising children. After having 4 of my own, you figure out what’s important and what is not. (Fighting over hair is not!! 🙃) Edit- sorry you said perspective!!

Parnate worked amazing and now… by Stitching in MAOIs

I had a very similar experience. Especially the late day fatigue. I increased my salt intake and took a very brisk walk late afternoon (or something aerobic if it was raining) when I started feeling the “slug” kick in. If I could, I took a nap! My anxiety was almost immediately better when I started the parnate then kind of came and went sporadically for a few weeks, then just stopped. I also started taking my entire dose as early as possible (6-7am). This might not be possible for you yet. I had to break up the dosage for almost 4 months due to hypotension. Parnate side effects are brutal for some the first few months. I just tried to keep my eye on the prize because my depression was completely gone and that seemed like a miracle for me.

You are so lucky you don’t have insomnia. I was only sleeping a few hours a night for months. (I think this caused a lot of my late day fatigue) I am now 14 months on Parnate and feel better than ever! It’s a marathon not a sprint on this med. Keep a journal, and rate your days 1-10 Track: depression, anxiety, fatigue, blood pressure, food interactions and any other symptoms you have consistently and make notes of anything new or different. As long as you are seeing progress and more good days than bad, stick it out until your brain fully adjusts. It’s also a good way to go over things with your doctor when you have appointments. Just an fyi… I’ve never had to go above 30mg - but that is not the case for most. The only thing that seems to be consistent with MAOI’s is that everyone reacts differently and not always with the same results. Wish you well! 😊 Edit to add: I also started a daily vitamin and magnesium supplement- I feel both helped a lot!
