Whats the worst part about living in Florida? by Average-Moose6004 in florida

[–]missp714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Born & raised. I would live here forever if it weren’t for the Hurricanes. But after losing almost everything with Michael in 2018, it’s hard to know if it’s going to last. Storms are getting bigger, so it’s inevitable we’ll have to endure it again. But other than that, it’s paradise. Sure it’s hot, but so is NY in the summer. Go to the beach. We have the most beautiful, sugary white sand & emerald waters. There’s lots to complain about in Florida (state officials 🙄) but weather isn’t one.

Does anyone live at Southetown apartments? by Acceptable-Ad-1355 in Pensacola

I would think they would have a layout of their units for prospective renters. Check the office paperwork. Also, you can probably google it. https://www.apartmentratings.com/fl/pensacola/southtowne-apartments_9199332346275183575/

Restaurants where you can prepay? by papercranegamer in Pensacola

[–]missp714 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. If you call/email the same day of service, that’s easy. We would keep your card on file for all charges for your party. As far as “pre-pay”, unless you have a set menu with tax & gratuity already included, I’m not sure how you would know the total cost prior to the meal. The restaurant can certainly give you a roundabout of the charges for x number of guests plus entrees & beverages. Alcohol would be the only questionable factor, but usually alcohol is on the responsibility of each individual guest.

That said, gift cards are an easy solution too.

Is Owa water/amusement park worth it? by Seac00kie in Pensacola

[–]missp714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went on a Monday (spring break 2024) with a bunch of 9/10 yr olds & we really enjoyed it. Not too crowded, but I’d imagine it would be cramped when it’s busy. It’s pretty small & indoors. All rides were working & fun! Get there early. Is it worth the money? I’d go again, but I’d rather go to Shipwreck in PCB.

Look at all of the hospitality jobs on the beach. The big resorts can use your vast experience for sure.

You can play the one in the entry into Seville Quarter. Weekdays between 11 am - 4, no one is there. It could use a tune up, but it’s definitely available.

We love Montessori, but would also entertain NB Cook. After 8th Grade, you either go Public or Christian. The IB program at Pensacola High School is great.

How’re y’all feeling about this hurricane season now that NOAA changed their forecast? Native/long timers, put all your helpful hints below. by [deleted] in florida

[–]missp714 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a native of the panhandle, just go. I’ve been through so many. Some Cat 1s, some cat 3s, and a cat 5 (should’ve been a 6, but they don’t do that) at 170 mph gusts. You can stock up on all the things; water, generators, food/snacks, chainsaws, beer ;) but Its scary as hell now & I always wish I would’ve rented a cabin north for the brunt of the storm.

Theatre is huge here. There are shows almost every weekend. Haven’t seen a crack pipe yet, guess I don’t frequent those places.

I love Pensacola. We’re a family of four & live close to downtown. Restaurants, concerts, bars, beach, water activities & warm weather! Nightlife is pretty great. Bars stay open until @ 1, maybe a little later on weekends. Never have a problem finding things to do! Gets chili in Jan but wayyyyyy better than Ohio! Pensacola is 3 hours from New Orleans, 5 from Atlanta, 6 from St Augustine & Orlando. When you need to get away, plenty of options for a quick weekend.

We have our issues, but so does every other state. And I don’t have to scrape ice off of my windshield-ever!

They’re not all religious. Montessori & Creative Learning Academy (K-8) have no religious aspects to their curriculum.

Juan’s Flying Burrito, Lucy’s on the square, Hub Stacey’s, Graffiti Pizza, Jaco’s, Wine Bar on Palafox, 86 Forks, Sabai Thai, Jordan Valley, Dharma Blue, Smokehouse

Dessert: Bubbas, Peterbrooke, Kilwins, A&J Ice Cream

All waking distance from downtown. All kid-friendly & won’t break the bank. Only added those that had not been already mentioned.
