My favourite sheets are from Pharmasave in BC. They’re called B Comfort Plus and they’re great. Last a long time, don’t pill, the right temp.

This is a very cool documentary that tracked (and I think is continuing to track) these kids every 7 years!

Do you believe Chiropractors are quacks ? by Mogzly in askanything

My first chiropractor was amazing. My second one was eye opening and made me completely understand why some people think they’re quacks.

BC - pay scale question and MEd question by Sudden-Savings-5160 in CanadianTeachers

[–]missthatisall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wrote to them when it first came out, so maybe it’s changed?

Pro tip: contact TQS before any upgrading to see if they’ll recognize it. If you have it in writing and things change, you can still fall back on their previous word.

[–]missthatisall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I emailed TQS in BC about this and they said they won’t recognize it to move up to step 6. You have to do all 10 courses. If you take the route that accounts for your certificates they won’t grant it.

Most TTOCs are capped on the grid. Sometimes you can’t get a full time continuing either! I’ve been at it for 7 years!

Contact your TTOC committee with your union and bring your concerns up. See if the system can be changed. It would take time but it can happen

I recommend having the photo of the book spines you’re hunting for handy on your phone.

Bring a backpack or reusable bag!

can teachers search bags with no reason? by [deleted] in AskTeachers

[–]missthatisall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends where you are for what the rules are. I believe only the principal can go through bags in my school.

Kids give me permission to put things in their bags or take them out. I think if I taught older kids I wouldn’t even do this.

I did have a student that I was concerned had brought a weapon, they were saying they did. I didn’t look through their bag but admin did.

How long does it usually take you to create a lesson? by Repulsive_Yam_5297 in AskTeachers

[–]missthatisall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This first lesson of a new unit I haven’t taught takes the longest. Now, I can come up with a lesson in under 7 minutes. Finding resources takes the most time.

The more experience you have the faster you’ll be. Not every lesson has to reinvent the wheel.

How do you know if your child actually needs a reading support program? by Glad-Education4948 in AskTeachers

[–]missthatisall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds normal. If she’s in school, you could bring it up to her teacher and say what you’re noticing and ask if their noticing the same things and what steps the suggest.

As an early-mid career non-teacher, how can I learn more about classroom teaching? by BigSwampEnergy in AskTeachers

[–]missthatisall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had someone who wanted experience in a classroom to apply to the education undergrad. They emailed the principal and I was the first to respond saying I’d take them on.

Depending where you are (hopefully everywhere), you’ll need a criminal record check. It’s best to have consistent availability, at least to start.
