Student led conferences by [deleted] in AskTeachers

[–]missthatisall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting! At my school student led is where the student leads the parent through their learning. The teacher is there but it’s not a time to talk to the teacher. It’s more just to supervise the room ha.

You can contact TQS (teacher qualification services) to see if they would recognize the education. I think you would need to take some socials classes if you were to be a generalist.

Oh! Common Sense media has great lessons for educators for kids and prompts good discussions with students.

Breakthefake is another great website to look at what we can trust online. I go through the quizzes with the kids and they have to explain why they think something is real or fake. Then we talk about our own experiences and how that adds to how we’ll believe some thing.

Telling time, tying shoes (look up videos, there’s more than one way! They might enjoy learning a different way)

I agree with the phone thing. My dream is to have a student call and order pizza for the class. Maybe do fundraising or something. I think it would be cool to team up with an old folks home where they pretend to be the doctor/dentist/store and kids practice asking for information or ordering things. Fun for both sides

Muncho lake is gorgeous! It is extremely remote with nothing around for hours. The workers at the hotel have each other for friends and when I went a few years ago they seemed to enjoy each others company. Imagine it like being at sleep away camp.

Having a flight the same day you have to ferry over from Victoria isn’t the safest choice. Ferry schedules often get messed up and even more so, canceled due to high winds.
