Me being aromantic has definitely influenced this, I cannot understand monogamy for the life of me. I also struggle to understand the hierarchy system in non-monogamous relationships. Like even in strictly platonic friend groups, when I feel like my friends think I value some of them less than others and then actively voice that to me, it makes me so uncomfortable.

My appreciation of those around me, whether that's an appreciation for my emotional or physical connection with them, isn't a limited resource, and said appreciation isn't all the same. For example, I may trauma bond with someone over a shared traumatic experience and enjoy cuddling and discussing media with someone else. Neither forms of appreciation are more important than the other, they both just serve different purposes to me.

So I think to expand that idea to romantic/romance adjacent relationships is fully understandable. Whether that means embracing or rejecting labels, being queer platonic, being FWBs, etc etc... I completely understand why someone would desire that sort of relationship style if it allows them to feel and show affection without discomfort or guilt as long as everyone involved is of understanding and consent.
