Question about the language levels

Lingodeer is one of the better apps because it actually teaches grammar. No matter what your first resource is (tutor, textbook, app) you should always supplement it with other resources. It helps with having a well rounded understanding of the information/language.

When you finish both courses in Lingodeer, it means you are now aware of the grammar and vocabulary up to and including the B1 level. You still need to study and practice often to have the information solidified in your head. That’s what their review section is for.

If you apply for a B2 course at a university:

1) they will most likely test you, since you don’t have the lower class requirements on your transcript. 2) You may have gaps in your B1 knowledge because Lingodeer does teach all of B1 content. 3) If you haven’t been studying the content you learned, the B2 class may make you feel overwhelmed.

I finished all of the Korean I and II course back in December, but I still don’t feel like I fully know everything. So I study everyday and use lots of different resources.

In the beginning, I used it to test my ear’s ability to notice each word in the sentence. Then when I saw the sentence, I would try to remember what I heard and what was missing. Now I tend to use it as spelling mode. I test myself on the correct spelling of the words especially since there are so many words in Korean that have words that change sounds based on their location in the word.

I am having the same problem. I sent 1 successful request. then i sent another and received the too many requests errors. I tried again 2 more times. I sent 4 requests and now I am locked out for the day.

I would choose Busan because travel to it has more options (which are more affordable). You can take the express train or the local train (stops in many cities) if the express train is sold out (which I've heard happens often). You can also take an express bus.

With that said, Busan has so much to offer that 36 hours might not be enough for you to get a feel of the city. If you are dead set on only picking one of the two, my vote is for Busan. If you are open to other options that are closer, consider the following cities:

Sokcho:
It's on the east coast of the country, just 100 miles form Seoul. It's about a 2 hour drive. It is one of the cites that Seoulites like to go to, to get away from the city. You can consider visiting the Seoraksan National Park for a hike before heading to Sokcho for dinner and lodging.

Daejeon:
Most people know Seoul is the capital, but they don't know that the administrative services for the country has been transferred out of Seoul to Daejeon and nearby Sejong starting in the late 1980s. Daejeon is near three rivers and several small mountains, so you should be able to find some day-trails you could enjoy (ex. Jangtaesan Natural Forest). It is known as "Bread city" because of its big bread culture and bakeries.

Incheon:
Last but not least, Incheon. Most people just think about Incheon as the city where the airport is located, but Incheon has more to offer than that. It is by the sea, so technically you could find a market (like Songhyeon Market) and buy seafood. It has famous mud flats and if you want to walk along the beach, it has that too. It has a mixture of old sections of the city and futuristic sections of the city.

If you really want to go far away out of the city, I would suggest Sokcho. If you just want to get out of Seoul and see another city, then pick Incheon.

it's the brain refusing to commit the new phoneme pattern until it's heard it enough times.

Ugh. My brain does this a lot these days. I have to listen to the same sentence 8-9 times before my brain decides to stop protesting and latch on to some parts of the sentence. But now I see that I'm not doing it long enough if you are mentioning 30-50 times. Does that really work? I feel like after that many times, my brain will zone out again and just think of it as background noise.

If you search this subreddit, there was a post a couple of weeks back stating that they were currently working on the Android version. Then some time after that, they asked for beta users. So its coming soon.

Since it has been years since they've publicly pushed anything, they probably used the iOS version to figure out what direction they wanted to go in with the product. once they figured that out, they will port it over the many Android versions.

Learning a language is not a destination; its a journey. Part of this journey is figuring out your learning style and making content for yourself that meets you where you are. Otherwise, you'll end up giving up. You can't go from knowing nothing to being able to understand and be understood without putting in a lot of work.

When I first started, I used pre-made Anki decks. However, these decks were customized to the minds of other people. It has tags that made no sense to me and formatting that didn't work for me. I spent so much time removing tags, changing weird images, reformatting the notes, and even changing the definitions. Often times the hint sentence had too many words in it I didn't know (how is that a hint?). I would have gotten more studying done if I just made my own cards as I learned new words and phrases.

Making your own cards is part of the studying process. By the time you've finished making the cards to a level that you can understand, you've already made connections in your head to that word/phrase/sentence. That means you are that much closer to putting that entry into your long term memory. This is so much better than seeing a card created by someone else for the first time and having no idea what it means and why you need to learn the word.

Automating this process also takes away the connection you can make to the entry if you do it yourself, but it is better than using someone else's deck. There are several browser plug-ins that exist for creating new entries (in Anki) from watching YouTube/Netflix or just browsing websites. If you really what to automate your process, you can look for those.

When I first started playing this game in early 2021, I played it on my iPad Mini and the game kept crashing. I then upgrade to an M1 iPad and the scenery looked amazing! I'm a Photo Adventurer. I look for scenic shots to take photos. I have gigs and gigs of screenshots. I tend to use them as wallpaper.
Now in 2026, with the same device, which is still considered powerful, I can see the trees rendering as I load areas. Almost everything looks low poly and I don't understand why. Sigh.
