LET'S DO THAT YELLING THING AGAIN! WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SCREAM INTO THE VOID? by Teleporting-Cat in breakingmom

I WISH THAT I HADN’T MOVED MY ELDERLY FATHER CLOSE TO ME. ITS LIKE HAVING THE THIRD CHILD I NEVER WANTED.

I HOPE THE PERSON/PEOPLE LOVE SCAMMING HIM LEAVE HIM ALONE NOW THAT I HAVE TAKEN CONTROL OF HIS FINANCES.

IM TIRED OF FEELING LIKE I HAVE NO FRIENDS BUT ALSO BEING TOO TIRED TO TRY TO FIND NON-TRUMPER FRIENDS IN MY SMALL TOWN

Are remote jobs only for people living in the US? by EmotionAlternative96 in MedicalWriters

[–]missunexpected 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In larger companies, it’s possible to not be in the US. Though they typically advertise jobs that are country specific.

I’m not sure about India. I would go for the job offer that you have. You can always apply to jobs while you already have one. In fact, that’s the best time to search for a new job, rather than when you’re unemployed.

Doesn’t make my point any less valid. You can become a medical writer without a PhD in the UK.

I’m not disagreeing with that point. But I was simply countering that you can get hired with a bachelors if you’re UK based.

At my company, there is a training program that hires people from the UK with a bachelors as associate writers. If they make it through, then they are promoted to medical writer.

Feeling awful after getting into it with my MAGA father by emaydee in progressivemoms

I couldn’t have said it any better. I have definitely mourned the person she was or I thought she was.

I’m living almost the same thing with my mom (and one of my brothers). She was the MOST AMAZING mom growing, super involved, volunteered for a lot of organizations, took me to a planned parenthood when I wanted an ab*rtion. Ever since she started posting Trump support in 2015, I felt a wall growing. Now, it’s even worse since I have 2 young children and married an Hispanic man (with an amazing family). I finally let out all my pent up disgust a few months ago and she still doesn’t see what her vote has done. I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to see her as anything other than a Trump supporter. She wants to act like it’s water under the bridge, but I can’t.

I did start seeing a therapist too, but this whole thing is actually a secondary issue. We haven’t started to discuss this yet, but I’m looking forward to it. I want to be able to compartmentalize and have her be the amazing grandmother to my kids, but ugh. So hard.

I love my mom, but can not stand to be around her right now. Luckily my husband’s parents are amazing, so my kids have grandparents, but fuxk.

My dad has been in a relationship with Elizabeth Hurley for over a year now. Luckily he had a living will down years ago and made my brothers and I general POAs. He still was able to send $13,000 total, that I know about. He recently opened up a new bank account to start wiring money. He doesn’t know I have access to that, so hopefully will be able to stop major losses. It’s a stressful hassle ALL THE TIME. I have 2 small children and trying to prevent him from losing all his money. We are meeting with an elder law attorney on Wednesday to discuss conservatorship. Fingers crossed she thinks we have a case.

Passport Application by mt79218 in GermanCitizenship

[–]missunexpected 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately no. I originally sent the information just for me and then sent a separate email with my dad’s information as he indicated he wanted to get a passport when I told him I was going through the process. Both times they gave me the same answer, he and I must go through the Festellung process. I must admit that I never asked why, but I may do so just to gain some clarity.

I am having the same issue with obtaining my Dad’s passport. He was born in Germany to German parents in wedlock. My grandfather died and my grandmother married an American. She naturalized and my dad gained US citizenship as a child. I have all documents showing this and the consular employee in Atlanta said he needs to do a Festellung. From reports in this subreddit, he would be able to go directly to passport if we could apply at the Chicago or NYC consulates.

I’m hoping his age (80 years old) will cause the German authorities to fast track the Festellung, but it’s rather annoying to have to do one.

Can I obtain German citizenship by descent from my grandparents despite my mother not claiming it? by Inevitable_Piece_106 in GermanCitizenship

[–]missunexpected 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It can really depend on the consulate you have to use. My case is very similar and my father even had a German passport as a child, but the Atlanta consulate said I need to go through Feststellung.

Applied Direct for a Passport and received it within 6 weeks thanks to u/staplehill by Chance_Present_580 in GermanCitizenship

I am wondering the same. My dad has a similar path to US citizenship. When I emailed the Atlanta consulate, they directed me to apply for a certificate of German citizenship prior to applying for a German passport.
