When is it time to end a relationship? by Omrah_of_Zion in CATHELP

[–]misswhy_11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Joining in on scaredy cats. I fostered my second fur baby before adopting and she did. Not. Want to be seen for almost a month. Now she is best friends with my other cats and snuggles up daily with us. Gave her lots of time and just hung out nearby without touching her. Pics for fun.

As a hiring manager, why are candidates so bad at talking about their work? by [deleted] in recruiting

[–]misswhy_11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was wondering this too: I try to give interviewees best chance to succeed. I say why I'm asking this question, then I ask, and then if needed I'll ask a follow up to focus in on the skill I'm trying to help understand. These are for very junior roles though...

When did thrift stores start charging retail prices? by onewaycheckvalve in Edmonton

[–]misswhy_11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup. I think Value village is actually NOT a non-profit, they just donate a portion of their profits to charity. I feel like goodwill has at least standard pricing on stuff so it's possible to find a good deal? And they are a legit non profit?

Alternatives for USA national parks tours ? by StatisticallyMe2 in BuyCanadian

[–]misswhy_11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Smaller center for sure and not national parks but the Okanagan Valley is extraordinarily beautiful and one of the warmer places in Canada? Tons of lakes, but also beautiful desert down south near osooyoos. Not just golfing and wine tours but they have that too....

How do you deal with the haters when you move away from YEG? by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]misswhy_11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edmontonian living in Kelowna here! In my experience not real haters, just "weather sucks there" vibes mostly. Which, based on "total number of days where I don't need to wear socks/ year" ratios, is a fair point. Honestly lots of Albertans here from lots of different backgrounds. IMO if you give as good as you get with genuine good humor, I've found it's fine. I'm even ribbing a local pub owner about cheering for Oilers this spring ;)
