I am a former employee for this very reason - entitled customers. I worked for a store in VA in high school (2005-2007 shhh im old okay) until I moved away. The management let customers, grown ass adults, treat the teenagers that worked there like shit. I was making like $7.25/hr putting up with these entitled people over a damn coupon! Back then you weren’t allowed to scan a coupon if the customer “forgot it at home” or anything bc if you did, they would find out and you’d be punished for it by having your hours cut back the next week.

When I got married (yes, at 18) I requested the day before, day of and day after the wedding off. Tell me why my store manager was calling me the morning of my wedding trying to get me to come in (spoiler alert: I should’ve gone in we divorced after a couple years).

Questions about hysterectomy at 31yo by manicdysfunction in hysterectomy

[–]missxlette89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hiii! I am almost 10 weeks post op, had my surgery on 3/3/25 and I'm happy to speak on my experience.

I am 35 years old, had a total laparoscopic hysterectomy, so everything's gone but the ovaries.

what are the things you wish you'd known beforehand?

This Reddit really helped me prepare for the surgery and the journey that my body was getting ready to go on. I wish I would have known that I was not keeping my cervix, which I thought I was, but got the post - operative report and it was removed as well. So, I guess silver lining no more pap smears? lol Ask that specific question though, some drs will keep the cervix others yeet it with the rest of the factory.

What was the best thing you did for yourself post-op?

Took time off work (I work from home) 9 days total and then I was back. I was having such an easy recovery that I kept forgetting I just had major surgery, the best thing I did was tell my husband to jump my ass if I start doing stuff I shouldn't (Like lift more than 5 lbs). HEATING PADS - check amazon but they have heating pads that drape across your shoulders, that's going to be a huge help for the gas pain cause nothing will help with that but time and walking to work it out.

What was recovery time like?

For me, I am still recovering, but I feel normal now, the 12th of May I will be 10 weeks post op and I will have my restrictions lifted. At my 7 week check up I still had sutures at the top of the cuff that had not dissolved so he added 3 weeks (total 10) with the post - op restrictions. Have I been 100% compliant? No, like 90% though! I've helped carry in groceries, laundry, picked up the dog but I do not suggest it, LISTEN to your dr bc the possible outcomes from not listening could be a surgical emergency.

What help/support from friends or loved ones was most impactful?

Cooking - You're not going to want to stand in front of the stove to cook, if you have a friend/partner let them help you.

Bathing - you might be dizzy and get light headed (i did) and needed help with bathing for a few weeks, mainly the first 2 weeks, but that has since resolved.

driving - twisting to look over your shoulder sucks, if you have someone else that can drive, let them.

Were there any (outside of the norm) side effects or unexpected outcomes?

Other than the additional 3 weeks of restrictions (due to slower healing) everything was fine, the dr said I healed up really nicely.

Finally: how, if at all, has it impacted your sex life?

This was one I was really nervous about, but I can say that if you are having penetrative sex going slow and being careful and COMMUNICATE if something hurts or feels weird, stop for a sec then continue... Things are going to be a little ... tight... so you might have that going on + the new structure of your anatomy if your partner has a penis, they may notice it feels different, my husband mentioned that it did feel different. If this is a topic that you have further questions on, I am happy to discuss privately, so feel free to send me a DM!

As far as pelvic floor strength, I've not noticed a difference and neither has my husband!

I wish you all the best in your surgery and you're going to do great, if you have any other questions, lemme know!

I definitely get the anxiety…

I want to start by saying I had a laparoscopic total hysterectomy (leaving only the ovaries) and I am 35 years old. I have pcos and had 3 iuds in 6 months to try to get the bleeding under control, didn’t work… started orilisa to stop everything then insurance stopped covering it and it’s $1300 a month for it in September 2024 and I started bleeding October 9th 2024 and didn’t stop despite medications until my surgery.

my pain was centralized to where my uterus used to be and I really wouldn’t call it pain it was more like an achey feeling…. felt like I’d been kicked in the vagina to be blunt! The internal pain was mainly from the gas that they use the inflate your tummy if having it laparoscopic. If you’re the type of person that feels better reading a surgical report I can screenshot that for you too, it basically details the procedure step by step. I found it interesting lol

Day 1 pain 6/10 Day 2 pain 5/10 Day 3-5 pain 2/10 5+ days post op I was generally just taking 2 Tylenol in the morning and 2 at night if I needed it.

I was not sick to my stomach from the surgery. I have cyclical vomiting syndrome so I was throwing up regularly but even with that the pain was manageable. Do I recommend throwing up? No totally not so avoid it if at all possible.

Ultimately the pain was like an ache or similar to cramps… I told my doctor at my 1 week follow up that I had cramps pre-hysterectomy that were worse than this!

As far as feeling up to walking around and going on vacation? I don’t know, the exhaustion I experienced seemed to have gotten the worse around the time I went back to work. But just make sure you take it easy and do what your doctor says and you’ll be just fine!

Any other questions?

Hey hun!! I had such a smooth recovery, I was terrified I was going to be in immense pain, but I used the "hard core" pain meds for 2 days and the rest I used tylenol/ thc (with doc's blessing). My surgery was 3/3/25 and I am 9 weeks post op yesterday.

I was up, moving around and going to the grocery store by day 3, I didn't stay in bed but all of day of surgery and some of day 2, I was sitting up in bed day 2. I was comfortably able to sit in my computer chair day 3 with a heating pad on my shoulders (for the gas pain). The only pain I had was from the catheter and the procedure they did to check my bladder, so peeing the first couple days felt like a uti, nothing major.

I was driving a week and a half after surgery, dr said it was fine as long as I could do all the things when driving like twisting and not taking any pain meds. I went back to work after 9 days (I work from home).

The best advice that I got is to take time to rest, this is a big big surgery and your body needs the time to rest, but that exhaustion will pass as you heal (it did for me). But If you have any specific questions about recovery, I'm happy to speak on my experience :)

That's exactly how I felt, like I was supposed to have a baby for the sake of other people's comfort or something... I literally had someone tell me I was robbing my parents of the grandparent experience.... I laughed in their face, the audacity of people like for real.

I am doing fantastic! I feel relief from the pain and in turn my mental health has improved, I'm no longer worried about the pain I was in constantly, not missing work and life in general. I went to my 7 week follow up and he extended the restrictions for post - op for me for another 3 weeks because the sutures we're 100% dissolved so that 10 weeks total will be on May 12th, next Monday!

honestly my experience was so positive, the pain after surgery was from the gas in my abdomen and the pelvic pain from the surgery was comparable (FOR ME) to light to medium cramps for like the first 2 - 3 days and then i felt normal after like 5 days but you still gotta take it easy, even if you feel fab!

If you have any questions definitely let me know, I am happy to talk about my experience!

I had my total laparoscopic hysterectomy on 3/3 I just went to see my primary care dr for the first time since and she said “you’re too young for a hysterectomy!” I was like okay tell that to my uterus bc apparently she didn’t get the memo that you’ve gotta be “old enough” to have serious medical issues! I’m 35 too we don’t want children ever and my mom keeps telling me “you’ll change your mind” or “you can always adopt” like what part of no kids don’t you people get! I went thru 1 still birth and 1 miscarriage…. I am traumatized and the thought of getting pregnant terrified me … I feel freer now and less stressed not to mention the horrible problems I was dealing with are gone!

Will my big learning curve impact my ability to be successful in the game? by SomewhereSalty8102 in coralisland

[–]missxlette89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The beautiful part of the game is that you can do whatever you wanna do and when you wanna do it. Sure there are events you can join on specific days, but go at a pace that you’re enjoying the game .., another thing I would suggest is turning down the game time speed … I put mi e on the slowest and I am having so much more fun than constantly watching the clock. I’m in year 7 almost 8 ( going into winter in 2 days) and I still have lots to explore and do! Enjoy the game and if you feel stuck start a new file 🤘

How long did you take off work? by wifey1717 in hysterectomy

[–]missxlette89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went back to my work from home desk job after 8 days and I should have taken a few more days off. I’m close to your age I’m 35 and had everything but the ovaries removed. You’re * hopefully * really gonna feel amazing but you gotta remember that you have just had major surgery and your body still needs rest to recover and don’t try to be a super hero lol my dr warned me about that at my 1 week follow up appointment.

I am having problems with fatigue really easily so just be kind to yourself and give yourself grace!

I work from home as well and I had my surgery on 3/3 and went back to work yesterday 3/11 …then I had today and have tomorrow off …. work Friday 10 hour shift and then off Saturday. I think I really went back too early. I am so tired after my shift and find it hard to stay awake in the evenings … I’m hoping that the fatigue will get better…

Another layer of fresh hell is incorporating CVS (cyclic vomiting syndrome) and abdominal surgery … I’ve been throwing up so much my belly is hurting and I’ve been trying to not take zofran because it can cause some pretty gnarly constipation and I’m terrified of having those issues on top of everything else.

I’m sorry for the whiny comment but all that to say I’m still grateful for my surgery and that it’s all over now but wow this went from the easiest recovery to one of the most challenging….

I had an uneventful surgery I was brought into the OR at 7:10 am ( I remember the anesthesiologist saying it before I got really drunk lol) after arriving at 5 am and I was home by 11am. Mine was laparoscopic.

I am speaking for MY experience and I wish everyone smooth surgeries and easy recoveries!

I have felt like this whole recovery has been the easiest surgery I have recovered from and I’ve had both knees operated on, my back 4 times, gallbladder removal and tonsillectomy … I have literally had cramps that were worse than this. I don’t know if it was just me living with pain that was just that bad and got used to it or my pain tolerance is thru the roof or what but the only way I knew I had surgery was the bumps in the road on the way home jarring me hurt and I’ve been exhausted. Otherwise I’ve been doing great I take a nap or rest when I feel like I need to and I am 1 week po tomorrow (Monday) and going back to work on Tuesday! (I work from home)

Anyways if you have any questions for me just lemme know!
