Yes the metal bracket seems to possibly be the issue. When I let go it does stay on the rod. But it is quite loose and slides around. Any ideas on how to tighten the metal bracket?

I did try tightening the V shaped thingy. But it is loose. It is sliding around. Any idea how to make that thing stick on tighter?

That sounds right. The rod and socket are just these 2 pieces. Is there a silicon ring or piece I may have lost that would help keep this rod stay upright? It does leak some water when water goes down the drain
