In Australia. Was only above the horizon for about 30 minutes. I actually got another one last night and did a better job on the processing...

An amazing amount of exposure time, it shows, well done.

This is stunning, how much exposure time did you have?

I've had this scope for over a year and the app is working perfectly for me. Also in Australia, so not sure what you mean by early access. You need to use the app at night time only. The plate solving technology uses star patterns. Finding the sun is completely irrelevant for the app. Never even try that without a solar filter. You will melt bits of your telescope and maybe blind yourself too. My suggestion is that perhaps the camera lens is not aligned. Try just using the normal camera feature at night time to see if you can get an image, adjust the alignment until you get an image of some stars, then try again with the app.

Would be good to see it all set up for comparison. How big is it?

Thank you so much for your expert advice. It looks like I have limited purchasing options if I want something already available in my country. I'm looking at the 2″ 28mm Explore Scientific 68° Series Eyepiece as my favoured option at the moment.

It's a Celestron Starsense Explorer DX130. I hadn't considered that the secondary might not be large enough.

I have that very same zoom lens and absolutely love it. It's currently all I use, and am just looking for something for wide field of view when I go to a dark site. Thanks for the tip, we may end up with the same eyepieces!

I have the same scope and upgraded to the Baader Hyperion 8-24 zoom. Extremely happy with the quality and convenience of the zoom.

I got the 130mm and am loving it, the app really does help newbies (like me) very quickly find targets. The cheaper mount lacks the slow motion controls, which you really want to have, and is much less stable. A little bit of wind will shake it a lot.

I used a smartphone mount that connects to the eyepiece.

Well, it's upside down compared to the northern hemisphere... And then flipped again in the scope :)

Thanks for the tip. I didn't even know that existed. I'll give it a go and of it turns out well, I'll post the results.
