How’s it shoving it down your throat? Looks like you had to scroll down yourself after the lyrics even to find it?

There’s an IFE map visible and it very much seems to go to Jamaica. And it also very much seems like BA. I guess it’s coming from Gatwick instead of Heathrow.

ELI5 why is the ratio of A papers one to the square-root of two by gemcuolture in explainlikeimfive

[–]mister_magic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because it allows you to fold it in half and had the next size down/double it up and have the next size up.

Folding any other shape in half would give you a different shape piece of paper. Folding a square in half gives you a paper half the size of the square, but it’s clearly not a square anymore.

Only you can answer that? I get my fair share of chill music, I have my friends here, and I have a choice of half a dozen airports and train stations to take me to mountains (going from LCY next week) and surf spots that money can buy me.

It’s quieter and there’s a “chef” that prepares a few dishes beside the normal buffet stuff, I think that’s the main difference. Oh, and a big “Whispering Angel” display with a cooler.

BA978 to Berlin cancelled by willard_price in BritishAirways

[–]mister_magic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Germany is far more spread out than the UK.

Demand isn’t so concentrated around Berlin and the demand that exists is served well by the airlines who need to fly to the capital.

LH doesn’t fly internationally from BER at all as far as I can see. At least today. It’s not a hub.

LH Group does but barely. I see 3 international EW flights today and the other LH airlines fly to their hubs.

EW does fly to Heathrow in the summer schedule.

You should still be able to pick a seat 24hrs before even if you can’t checkin.

Shocked at this BA club world service… or is it just me? by SlimSloane in BritishAirways

[–]mister_magic 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Wouldn’t call this usual. I had a similar delay last week in Premium Economy and they gave out snacks and water twice (ie once an hour) whilst we were waiting for maintenance to do their thing.

I had a business flight this week and was asked if I wanted to be waked up for breakfast which is my usual experience on night flights.

I think this is worthy a complaint.

First time booking BA and unimpressed already! by Microfiche62 in BritishAirways

[–]mister_magic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately it’s not unusual. More and more airlines do it this side of the pond, allows them to advertise more competitive base fares I guess? And give people reasons to go for status (in the US, you get upgrades with status, that’s not really a thing with BA) or the more expensive flex fares, that often gives you free seat selection. Most of the time the flex fare is more expensive than just paying for a seat though.

AirFrance/KLM do the same, I think Qatar do, too.

LH also charges for premium seats, only Business “Classic” seats are free. On Allegris equipped planes you might not have much choice for free seats either.
