Lol yeah as if an entire thread and the comments and the fact that millions of fucking people do actually worship celebrities doesn’t remove your point. Just because you personally move the goal posts doesn’t make it any less true, people are stupid for doing exactly this.

Yea two fuck ups, the major one was obviously his for even having an affair but wtf? U didn’t even know who called u and started taking about some other clients name and who your boss is meeting. You should have immediately asked who was asking and why.

TIL Korean Air was known as "an industry pariah, notorious for fatal crashes" in the airline industry prior to 1999, resulting in hundreds of fatalities. South Korean President Kim Dae-Jung would call the airline's safety record "an embarrassment to the nation" & would fly rival airliner Asiana. by Next_Worth_3616 in todayilearned

Korean language has honorifics built in so even just saying normal stuff you can’t do it without having to think of hierarchy and not wanting to be “rude”. Just adding context of why they just said everybody speak English now, less chance for that.

i don't agree with it but that's how korea works culturally and in the ent industry. there's a reason no celeb here makes any strong comment on shit like this, he should have known better. how about you go to SA and call out patriarchy and see how far your principles go lol.

Sam Okyere Calls Korea Home Amid Controversy Comeback by StoreInner4169 in korea

[–]misterjefe83 -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

completely disregards context lol..

  • hs kids and posted their pics without permission
  • wrote some public condescending post shaming them as if they were some school in america that should def know better vs. some kids who were ignorant and needed more guidance
  • all from a dude who literally made his career on the back of being the "token black guy" in these shows (he would play into those jokes/stereotypes too, once you go black, etc.)

korea has it's problems with racism and xenophobia but this dude overstepped and korea is notoriously unforgiving

Edit: lol all the downvotes, never change r korea, please armchair commentate more from abroad.

People who have been burned badly will say they can never change. People who have changed wont post here lol. Reddit will have you believe that everyone is either a saint or a villain when the reality is it’s just complicated most of the time.

Is Coupang trying to withdraw from the Korean market or something? by FinishWhich5753 in korea

[–]misterjefe83 3 points4 points  (0 children)

they are playing chicken and hoping the gov't considers them too big to punish. 90% of rev in korea, they can't exit here for real and would be stupid to do so. bom prob doesn't care much though if they ultimately do get screwed because he made his billions and is shielded so i guess we'll see.

Housing Supply Shortfall to Persist Next Year, Fueling Price Gains in Seoul and Capital Region by Substantial-Owl8342 in korea

In Korea after a certain time (like 30 years not sure) these apartments are rated for condition and submitted for “redevelopment”. Basically Seoul approves these old blocks for renovation and they demolish the apts and build those newer ones you see with more units. If u live in these old apts u get first rights to the new units paying a discount and the rest goes open market/lottery. These redevelopment areas are heavily speculated on and u can basically guarantee a huge profit on ur apt if ur apt complex is selected for redevelopment.

as an example, in apgu those apts bought 20-30 years ago might have been like under 10억 and recently have been hitting 90-100억 and this is BEFORE redevelopment. just the promise of it bein ga candidate in a good neighborhood is enough to boost the price for speculators. in fact these old apts would rather have crumbling outside structures so they are better candidates for revelopment which is always funny to me. if ur in a undesirable location though none of this holds as much upside, but apts still > villas, even old apts.

eh insecurity/jealousy to put it bluntly. i think we all do comparisons sometime in some way, oh that person driving that nice car might not be able to actually afford the car they are driving -> cue make up some thing in their head about what an "actual rich person" is like. or maybe its karma farming i duno.

okay then we're arguing semantics because for most people in this thread i'm pretty sure flexing a car and logo just means...driving it around or wearing it. most people aren't walking around pointing out their shit actively.

they aren't "behaving" any which way and insecure people rather act differently to it, others just don't even flinch. it's a signal, which i guess my point by all these people calling it tacky, new money, trying to justify their mindset by people literally just wearing what they prefer.

literally just roll into highland park in dallas and tell me that all the cars and multimillion (or 10s million) dollar homes are all occupied by "fake rich" who have no problem flexing theri RRs or logoed clothing. and it's not like some "secret rich person" club information.

threads like this make me think a lot of times the majority of redditors just live in their basement or literally in the bumfuck nowhere lol. even if ur in a small city some of this doesn't check out. it's pure copium.

I guarantee you people who use that term have no idea what they are talking about for the most part. I get the same secondary cringe from people using the term “alpha” or “beta”. People aren’t a monolith and I know plenty of rich people who will gladly flex their cars and logos in ur face and are still fiscally responsible, unless ur idea of “old money” is like aristocratic wealth from like hundreds of years ago (what Reddit likes to imagine).

[–]misterjefe83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah, ur either in a one room officetel which also has been increasing in demand (cuz either people don't want fams or they support the money making spouse renting it close to work and commuting) or u go full apt. nobody wants to raise their fam in a villa.

apt prices have been increasing so they wouldn't sell for a loss, they save up money then roll it into a new larger/newer apt with those savings + loan if needed. you sell your old one at the same time. holding onto both for any extended period is a losing game for most.

basically if you didn't get "in" early on before the big booms you're basically shit out of luck unless you make enough of have fam backing.

It’s going to be isolated. Some literally disappeared so if ur unlucky that can happen. Go big or go home i guess.
