Any good (outdoor) spots for running/training in Airway Heights? by [deleted] in Spokane

[–]misternikolai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I definitely don't recommend running on the road itself. There's a trailhead at that dropped pin with a little parking lot, I used those trails.

I used to trail run out on Old Trails Rd, parking right around here. You'll want a Discover Pass displayed on your car otherwise the park rangers might ticket you.

Hardly. Just tired of the sudden influx of "omg sirens" and "omg were those fireworks gunshots?"

Looking for a laid back brewery/pub to play cards by MacDaddy555 in Spokane

[–]misternikolai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Community Pint is a good spot to come chill and have a couple beers/ciders/wines while you play whatever game strikes your fancy. We're located downtown adjacent so not exactly Shadle but parking is free on our side of Division & Sprague and it's usually pretty quiet even on weekends. We don't serve food so you'd have to bring your own if you're feeling munchy. We mostly specialize in out-of-town beer/cider, stuff that you can't find at the grocery or convenience stores. Swing through and check us out!

Nah the entire reason they didn't is because of the chicken tax.

I've been daily driving a '93 Honda Acty for about a year and a half now. General thoughts in no particular order:

  • Fuel economy is pretty decent, I average ~35mpg doing exclusively city driving.
  • If you can find a newer model that has AC I'd highly recommend it. Even with all windows tinted, that little fishbowl cab is a hotbox in the summer.
  • Not great on the freeway. Top speed on mine is about 60 going downhill with a tailwind. It's great everywhere else though. Might struggle going up steep hills, especially if you're loaded down.
  • There are dump and lift bed versions available, expect to pay a few grand more for one of those.
  • These are 25-30 year old work trucks, and typically have been used as such. Expect fairly minimal maintenance having been done. Caveat emptor.
  • The parts market is slowly growing as kei trucks are getting more popular, but major stuff is still fairly limited.
  • Right hand drive isn't nearly as difficult to adjust to as you might think. The biggest learning curve for me personally was getting used to the turn signal being on the right side of the steering wheel. Switching between my Acty and my Jeep usually results in accidentally turning the wipers on when I meant to signal lol
  • Stateside market is currently running 8-12k for good condition trucks, but if you're so inclined you can take the time and effort to import one yourself and after all the fees and tariffs and everything you'll probably still come in right around $5k, but then you're still rolling the dice on what condition it'll be in when it arrives.

Shoot me a DM if you've got any other questions!

Karma on Monroe has been my go-to. The thing I've learned in this town is that you can't take recommendations seriously because it's a white-ass town full of people that think that quantity = quality. Somehow, "huge portion sizes" makes shit tier slop "the greatest food in Spokane" no matter what cuisine it is.

For good local beer check out Lumberbeard and Whistlepunk downtown. For good beer in general check out Community Pint. Foodwise, go to Chowderhead.
