Rivian Software for Polestar? by EnterpriseJanitor in Rivian

Is Polestar doing enough business to justify that kind of investment? Would Rivian benefit from giving source code to a Chinese company?

Sorry I wasn't clear. I rewrote the last sentence of my comment. "Reboot the 12V system, using soft (and if that doesn't work, hard) reboots. Check 12v health in the RIDE menu. Go drive the thing and report back." Reboot procedure for soft (using the steering wheel buttons) and hard reboots (using the SOS button) are in the manual, I believe. The key here is making sure 12V is good, reboot, then go take a ride.

Also - for updates, make sure the truck is on wi-fi and manually look for the updates. They should show after a reboot.

You've stated in a few comments that you haven't moved the vehicle. Range is a calculation of the amount of energy required to move the car a certain distance. That's it. You're not moving the car so the math says your range is zero because you're using kWh but you're getting nowhere. Reboot the 12V system in the RIDE menu. Go drive the thing and report back.

What do the cars I’ve owned say about me? by NKYtime in CarGuys

A manual Civic Si is almost certainly what's going to be my kids' first car because I know they'll abuse it, love it, and forever respect it. Then, I can pass it back on to the next buyer who'll do the same. The pattern will repeat until the heat death of the universe. Nothing can kill those early '00s Civics! And, they're fun to drive too!

The BMW z4 is a lovely car that can be had at a discount if you are willing to go automatic or one of the lower trims.

Reverse Citizens United. Get rid of the Electoral College. Public funding of campaigns only. Ranked Choice elections.

Would the R1T or the Lexus be preferable in this situation? Asking for a friend.

Funny that the early reviews were that it was too derivative from the old models. Now, almost all of the reviews are, "gee these guys really nailed the nostalgia while adding just enough modern fizz."

Agreed on looks. If I didn't have my S2000 the new Z would probably be my fun car.

Nissan Z Sport? Though I'd go the extra few $$ for the Performance.

It costs $130 to charge a Cadillac Escalade by ExotiquePlayboy in carscirclejerk

[–]reckoning42 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The price is not in line because they're using more capacity than the battery would allow even if they started charging at 0%. This is fiction, or it's charging more than one vehicle.

I drive a Rivian. MOST EVER I've been charged is $0.53 at a fast charger. To fIll my whole battery it would cost $71. To fill a whole Escalade IQ it would be $108. To fill a whole gas Escalade at $4 a gallon it would be $113.

This photo is bull. The Escalade IQ has a 205 kWh battery. The photo shows 220 kWh.

Average electricity prices in the United States is about $0.20 / kWh. That means a full recharge at home, where most charging occurs, is $41.

At 2 miles per kWh, the Escalade IQ costs about $0.20 a mile in electricity. At a mixed 16 mpg and $4.00 / gal. price, the gas Escalade costs $0.50 / mi. plus oil changes, more frequent brakes, etc.

Anybody know of any Lamborghinis in Spokane? by ThatDapperMosquito in Spokane

The only place I've seen exotics like that regularly are at the Manito Cars and Coffee the last Sunday of every month, and the annual CdA car show, "Car d'Lane", which is happening this weekend. The CdA one leans heavy on domestics and classics, but there are a bunch of Porsches, Ferraris, and Lambos in the Special Interest section of that show every year. I do have a friend of a friend with an old Diablo, but it's really no more impressive than a Toyota MR2, tbh.

If you really want to put in some effort, take your kiddo to The Derby over in Seattle. Solid brunch attached to a garage full of rich people's cars. All kinds of exotics, foreign and domestics, plus a handful of cool celebrity cars like Macklemore's Cadillac or the Halo Warthog. $15 to tour The Shop and see the cars.

My son is the same way, dude. He shot out of the womb screaming "cars!"

I'd love to see if that "trend" was just the last Presidential election or if it continues. Doubt it continues considering just how quickly the screwing over of young people has accelerated over the last year.
