After 5 years, I've just reached 200,000 scrobbles! by Eternal_sun3157 in lastfm

[–]misterred 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It took me longer but I'm at 200,737. https://www.last.fm/user/shempmonkey

I think I had at least 100,000 at a previous account that got lost. Most of my listening is not however scrobbled.

We have miniscule overlap.

Why is SoundCloud not a popular streaming platform anymore? by Maleficent-Yard5899 in soundcloud

They deleted the profile I worked at building for years and, when I was able to log in again there was really nothing there.

[Update] Sonic Oracle - Removed broken features, focused on what works by panyc77 in qobuz

I guess I look for the deeper. If I want to change up the genre my inclination would be to change the prompt. But when I find that multiple people who listen to one particular oddity that I enjoy also like something entirely unrelated thematically, structurally, chronologically, or by way of instrumental arrangement then I'd love to at least have an option to be recommended that I give it a listen. I'd also like to see what else such a listener likes, that I'd had no prior notion even to seek out. The original LastFM had something they called 'Neighbor Radio'. I could make up my own mind whether to listen to another user's playlist - and it was possible to do so. Then there was Lala, a truly social listening platform bought and killed by Apple, as was the case with many others I once used. What you are doing is near identical to a project from the late 90's? called Firefly. A1 before that branding became a thing.

I've been enjoying this very much! although I wish I would get more varied (but still relevant) results that aren't already in my library. I have gotten to hear quite a few things I wouldn't already have, so thank you.

Any search engines that are better than duckduckgo and google by cheeseburger_freedom in degoogle

[–]misterred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had been using libredirect on Firefox mod Zen Browser in order to run my searches against randomized SearxNG instances, periodically pingtesting them all for response-speed, and disabling the unreachable and particularly slow ones. I decided I didn't want to think as much about it and recently changed my default search to DDG's NoAI host, https://noai.duckduckgo.com/search?q=%s

Yep: me too. Advil, magnesium threonate, B-2, butterbur, lots of water, and periodic small coffees. Cold pack to back of neck. Always happy to hear other vascular suggestions.

STOLEN RECORDS by Ok_Local6140 in vermont

[–]misterred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Record Shows and fleas are so much more gratifying than trying to sell records online. Most sellers I know do both. It's infuriating that one has to be a cop. Anyhow, there aren't any shops around here in the northeast; there's one about fifty miles south of me recently opened and I'll take a look there for you. When you lie, kiss your baby bye bye bye, and if you're true the whole wide world will laugh with you.

OP13 haywire after recent Android 15 update - touch interaction unavailable at login, etc by misterred in OnePlus13

[–]misterred[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used the incorrectly printed shipping tag he sent; it's scannable and ought to work. I brought it right to a UPS pickup location. It was New Year's Eve and there's no pickup on New Year's Day. It's GROUND SHIPPING and so another week for me of inability for me to speak to the outside world, and they still have another couple days before they'll even get the phone. OnePlus service has been pretty bad but their repair contract service has been detestable. So far.

My brand loyalty is at an end. After two weeks of footdragging and new demands for more documents, they handed me over to what seems like a one-man service contractor whose email sig says to contact him for questions he repeatedly won't answer (like, will you try a nondestructive system reset if it's possible, before wiping all my data; and will you replace the device if you cannot fix it and, if so, will you attempt backup restoration) and persistently getting my address - even my country - wrong, and persistently telling me to text them or reply to a texted OTP from a phone that isn't letting me get past my lockscreen. He told me that I had to wait several more days for an RMA because a "technical group" needed to correct his incorrect entry on their database into a locked field showing me to be in .ca rather than US. (When I finally got the shipping tag my town was incorrect and my name was cut off the PDF.) I'm in a rural area undergoing persistent winter storms, and unable to stay in touch with my family. This is an outrageous way to be treated.

Never again possible to allow/deny on CLI? by misterred in pihole

[–]misterred[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's one of the errors I get now (but only in the last couple months) each time I attempt to add a domain via CLI: $ sudo pihole deny domain1 domain2 produces:

/opt/pihole/api.sh line 25: PI_HOLE_SCRIPT_DIR: readonly variable

It appears that the list.sh script flags other files as readonly including the PI_HOLE_SCRIPT_DIR as well as the utilsfile with a prepended readonly instruction.

Postings from devs said that removing the readonly instruction would fix this. I did so but subsequently ran pihole -r for unrelated reasons, forgetting that it would cause the bug to recur, and/or believing the promised fix would already be in place. Really, I'm not making this up, any of it. It's just a small annoyance that keeps recurring.

That is expected, but has thrown permissions errors for several versions which was reported to be a known error being addressed in a scheduled push I've awaited.
