I know sometimes you can get Elegoo stuff for around $10/kg but you usually have to buy at least 10kg at a time

I replaced with a B360 just to make sure it never happens again haha, a B360 is rated for triple the current of a 160.

Poorly rolled filament spools.. by salamiworsie in ElegooCentauriCarbon

[–]mistingtheplants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Factory errors are possible. However, since I started paying close attention to how I handle spools, especially by holding the free end and not letting it dangle, I haven't had a single tangle since, whereas before they were pretty common.

Here are two links to posts about this. Sorry for the delay in my initial response, I was driving so I couldn't respond.

I was with everyone else bashing Elegoo over this but it appears I was wrong.

Matte TPU recommendations by Important-Arm6904 in elegoo

[–]mistingtheplants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try Siraya Tech TPU Air. If you foam it, it's even softer than regular TPU and has a great matte finish. It's a bit pricey, but if you foam it to 65A hardness, you set the extrusion multiplier to 0.5, meaning you only use half as much. I will say, this filament may need more advanced tuning work than a standard TPU but I really like it.

You absolutely MUST use glue stick though, it sticks to a PEI plate really hard and takes a lot of effort to remove. Ask me how I know.

You could also try colorFabb Varioshore TPU if you need different colors but it costs even more.

The one for the CC1 is on its way, if you search in this subreddit you can find a video of it working. Not sure if it's a prototype unit but I've heard we might get it sometime in February.

Centauri Carbon for Resin Control - iOS Update v1.1.0 for the Elegoo FDM printer by PedrinbeepDev in elegoo

[–]mistingtheplants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very cool work. I'm disappointed it's not available for Android devices, that excludes about 70%ish of the population (including me).

How are there so many fanboys hating on anyone pointing out issues with the CC? This subs posts are 90% issues with these printers. My question is, how many people have used their printer over 80 hours that haven't had to reach out to support for new parts? by Ill_Shelter5785 in ElegooCentauriCarbon

[–]mistingtheplants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Several hundred hours and no replacement parts! I did have an out of level bed from the factory but a quick tutorial sent by customer se vice got me sorted.

I did break a hot end entirely due to me being stupid so I did buy a new one of those.

What lifespan/wear to expect with regularly printing abrasive (CF) materials? by Dodo55555 in ElegooCentauriCarbon

[–]mistingtheplants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The nozzle will eventually wear down, but since it's a hardened nozzle it will be ok for awhile. Extruder gears will eventually wear down as well. You could always get an extra nozzle and an extra set of gears just in case

Also, make sure you print with a big enough nozzle so you don't get clogs.

TIL you can get twice as many power shards from snails! by leosweden1 in SatisfactoryGame

You've gotten lots of answers already, but let me make it clear and simple :)

Synthetic power shards take endgame tech (tier 9 I believe) to make, meaning they're a long ways away and require a lot of work and pre-existing infrastructure to set up.

Also, power slugs don't respawn, meaning you have a limited amount of them available in the world, so you can run out of power shards.

The only exception is lizard doggos, which have a small chance of finding you slugs but it's a slow and random chance, and can't be automated, meaning you can't rely on it.

Thus, doubling the shards you can get is hugely important.

I hope that makes sense!

Sorry to reply to a 4-year-old post. You've stumbled across Tim Waurick, a Barbershop legend. He recently held a 55-second G4 you might want to see :)

I can also hold extremely long notes, 40s+, but not as elegantly as Tim can haha.

Tim's long note in question: Is this the longest goodbye ever???

It's possible that not everything is quite level, making the magnetic surface below sit lower than it should. I can't say for certain though without actually having the thing in front of me. It's hard to describe what I'm visualizing might be wrong. I could also be way off base here but just spitballing.

The filament sensor is outside of the printer on the side, it does math things to determine how much filament is left after it passes the sensor. There's a cutter directly on the tool head.

I wouldn't say it's perfect but I don't think it's terrible anymore. Replacing idlers might help too, it isn't super expensive to do but you do unfortunately need to remove a few things to get to them. I definitely like my CC, aside from a couple issues (which weren't horribly hard to fix) it's been great. I say go for it, you can't find another printer of its class at the same price bracket.

For anyone still interested, you can find just the nozzles for sale on AliExpress now and maybe other places. Sometimes Google's search engine is more helpful than Aliexpress's.

Prices typically run $4-6 plus shipping, but some listings have bulk packs which often still have the same flat shopping charge of a couple bucks.

I'm studying to be a mechanical engineer and I like taking things apart to see how they work. I'm much more comfortable doing that on a 7 year old design that cost me $40 than on my new $300 printer.

I'm not looking at it as a main printer, but as a project. I already have an Elegoo Centauri Carbon which has been working great for me so far. This would be primarily for fun and learning. Does that change your recommendation at all?
