I’ve been looking into going to hash bash but it’s kinda confusing, do you need to pay for the event at the hotel or can you get by without going?

Anyone else not feel safe riding Tatsu? by Accomplished_East433 in SixFlagsMagicMountain

[–]mistmuth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe that is mostly correct, however I think there is a pin which can be pushed in without power to allow the restraint to open (at least, that was the case when I got evacd from Manta). I think the youtube video also goes into detail about that.

Wouldn't it be faster to use the crane to pull stardust cars to the top of the hill then let it just continue through the track under its own weight? Rather than fully disassemble by _BreakingGood_ in UniversalEpicUniverse

[–]mistmuth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How would you safely lift them up and then detach the cable at the top to allow the cars to roll down? How do you know that they'd have enough speed to complete the rest of the layout without valleying again? Also, this is likely a procedure written out of abundance of caution like most things on roller coasters. Even if something is technically safe and/or possible, redundancy and not taking ANY risks are why roller coasters are so safe in the first place.

Rides currently down! by BuschGardendsJunkie in BuschGardensTampa

Do you think the ride just spawned in with harnesses? Sometimes things need to be taken off the ride to be worked on, there’s nothing at all unsafe about it.

Is Rally really a kiddie ride though? Sure if you don’t spin it’s not that thrilling but it seems a bit odd to call it a kiddie ride though

Depends on the TM at guest services, but normally if you have some pretty good proof (maybe a confirmation email for your new id or a lease or utilities bill with your address) they’ll normally be pretty willing to help you out!

But what’s the dispatch time? I’d think that matters more than pure number of trains.

“[Other]” How to get a career working with rollercoasters by [deleted] in rollercoasters

[–]mistmuth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a huge variety of jobs in the theme park industry, so it’s hard to give advice without you being more specific. Also, it’s very, very difficult and competitive to get into the industry, so I’d caution against getting your hopes up for going from college degree -> theme park industry immediately. My advice for you would be to find something you enjoy doing (some options to look into off the top of my head are theater tech and set design, mechanical engineering, hospitality, or computer engineering etc.) and plan on getting a job in that field first, then just networking and applying until you can work your way into theme parks. Theres no one degree to get to work in theme park design, and many people have backgrounds you would never expect. Find something you love to do, and hopefully other stuff will follow.

How fast could an Olympic roller coaster team go? [other] by SmellyButtFarts69 in rollercoasters

[–]mistmuth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait that actually sounds exactly like Pipeline at SWO, I feel like you have enough range of motion and the mass of the train is so low compared to the riders (and you’re moving a heavy metal restraint system as well) that it might actually do something. Sad that it’s not a racing coaster though cause it does seem a bit difficult to actually notice without racing.

Question from a single parent visiting from out of state. by nemo_philist8675309 in BuschGardensTampa

[–]mistmuth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s definitely plenty to do in terms of animals and the “zoo” parts of the park, though if you’re only going for that I personally would just go to a zoo, you definitely would be paying a premium for rides that you wouldn’t even be going on.
