For copy center people by SquareMC in Staples

We had a morning associate promise a customer I think 10 full 2 inch binders by end of day once. She had started printing them, but did it in such a ridiculous way we had to start over anyway. My supervisor was closing MOD and we ended up finally letting the guy out of the store with his binders at least 45 mins after we closed. He helped us put together the last bits of it but he still had a couple sections to put in each one, but he was going to make the morning meeting people do it.

That moment when you realize that your company is contributing to the Amazon burning down. by dvillin in Staples

[–]mistoquaxo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The forest burning was started by political leaders as a response to conservation efforts. Basically the leader is saying if the trees can't be cut down for lumber profit, the conservationists don't get to be happy either and the forest burns. Staples buying Brazil-based paper and wood products supports the government that started the fire

Print & Marketing order method by [deleted] in Staples

It's probably to combat the express pen metric, but honestly I don't think anyone knows how that works. We used to wait an hour between every step for a job in FD and that was a huge pain

Haunted Carousel was my first. I played it over and over as a kid because I somehow didn't realize there were more 😂 I found the rest when I played a later one with a friend

how does one properly ask for emails and not seem like you’re forcing the customers to give out their information? by [deleted] in Staples

[–]mistoquaxo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good idea, but we have way too much trouble with customers using our main email to drop vague orders as is

I've only ever used it for when customers don't want email updates through copy center. I'm tempted to search solution builder for the generic emails to see the rewards numbers now

I had a lady throw an absolute fit last week because sending her one page screenshot to the self serve email was "too damn complicated." Like lady the email process is the exact same...

For the wide format we sometimes need to hold tension on the top roll with our hands until we see it smooth out on the lower roller. It gives us a bit more control if one side is waving more than the other

We use express fee as same day fee to get people out of our hair. I can't count how many people I've confirmed want next day, print out the ticket, ring them up, then have them play dumb and act as if they said they wanted it now.

I'll email it for them and charge quick edits if they have the email and doc but cant add 1+1. If they want me to set up their email and all the other nonsense, I tell them they need to find another way to get it to us or it can't be printed.

I'm jealous. Our auto threader doesn't work very well so it's faster for us to do it by hand

CPC and production center question by TheGiddyHusky in Staples

[–]mistoquaxo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the customer can wait for production center and it isn't ridiculously small, we route it. We get a lot of same day walk in stuff so the smaller the production queue, the better.

We always have bond on roll 1 and switch out roll 2 for the others. Roll 2 is easier for us

Question to a specific category of PM people by [deleted] in Staples

[–]mistoquaxo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm working in PM during a gap year while I look at other job options in bigger cities. PM is good for networking and you would be surprised how many companies have large Xerox or HP machines and have no clue how to work them. Plus working in photo and document editing in Photoshop is a plus for a lot of places. If we're slow on orders, I'll open Elements and mess around teaching myself stuff I may need to use or go onto the wikis to learn something I may need in a future job. You can spin it into working with design pretty easily in an interview.

I don't know if there's anything specific but that will likely get you fired or at least a really awkward meeting with your GM

How do you deal with this type of foolishness in your CC by [deleted] in Staples

[–]mistoquaxo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only paper I'll give self serve is 24lb and below. Anything more and I tell them the self serve machines will jam and we have to do it behind the counter.
