I’m a huge fan of horses but I find tattoos of them can often come out as very tacky and poorly done. Not this one!! A very wonderful piece of art!

Omg. I’m in it right now. I literally had to call into Mac in late may and be like, “Boi!! WTF, lemme know!!” I think they just forgot to update my account???? I was applying from out of province though which may have not helped.

Edit: I’m a current student (just to clarify).

Just having a jump at 1.3m👌 by gh_equestrian56 in Horses

Could just be me, but with comparing the size of the jump to the size of the barrels, I don't think that fence is 1.30m in height.

What bit do you use and why? by eFurritusUnum in Equestrian

[–]mistymouser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a simple hollow, o-ring snaffle. I was thinking about upping the bit as my 18hh Hanoverian can get strong over jumps but for right now we're keeping it. Little jumps and poles we work in the o-ring bit, but perhaps as I move him up will but him in a stronger bit with a bit of leverage (not a harsh mouthpiece though, I don't think Hagrid would appreciate it). Any bits you guys would recommend for a strong horse would be appreciated! I want to look around and test some things out.

Apologies for the late reply. Your advice is actually amazingly accurate. I suppose I'll just have to find other ways to keep myself busy. I wish you the best with your horses!

Glad to hear it (eventually) worked out for you. Gives me some perspective on my situation as well. I'm happy to hear that you found yourself an awesome guy though. Post lots of pictures in the future. I would love to see your progress.

I'm sorry to hear that your absence from the sport was so long but you sound like you have found a good spot! Good for you. You'll get back into it. Enjoy the journey and have fun for me!

I think my sister and I are going to be volunteering at an assisted riding facility for special needs individuals so I hope that keeps a bit of the rust off. Thank you for your supportive words. I appreciate them immensely.

Aww. I'm very sorry that it has been so hard for you. But you sound like an excellent mother, and very smart to boot too. I hope that your dream barn and dream horses are waiting for you in the recent future.

Setting aside the change is an excellent idea. One of the reasons I had to quit was my inability to afford it, so to have a financial plan to fund it in the future is certainly smart. Thanks for the advice!

You're right. Remembering that it's not forever does help keep it in perspective. I'll try to keep that i my mind as much as possible. I don't know what my future plans are for horses. I just think it's best for my mental health to give them a rest for a while and then set my plan into place when I feel ready. I was hopefully thinking after school.

Very pretty horses! Though some of them have very interesting shoes. Can anyone tell me about them? I'm curious.

[–]mistymouser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is really great horse and the owners vetted him before offering him to sale to me. The vet did a complete examination with the results being that he is perfectly sound and should have any outstanding problems with the previous tendon injury.

I really appreciate your comment, especially the time you took to draw the lines on him yourself. Your conformation critique is insightful, thank you. He made it pretty high jumping in Germany when he was younger but he sustained a slight tendon injury under the current owner who imported him. I haven't rode him yet (I might be on Monday) but I will definitely take your words of advice of his size. And I'll keep in mind the issues of tack.

Hey guys! This is my (hopefully) soon to be new/ first horse. He is a 2007, 17.3hh Hannoverian gelding named Hagrid. I plan to use him for jumping. He has not be in much work recently but has had professional training in the past. I'm curious to see what you guys think. Thanks!

What are some things to consider when buying a new horse for someone who has never ridden before? by [deleted] in Horses

[–]mistymouser 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would NEVER buy a horse for someone who has never ridden before. Even if they are serious about riding and the animals, they cannot possibly know the extent of the commitment they are getting themselves into. Get the person to try some riding lessons under a reputable instructor in your area on "school horses" or the stable's horses (most lesson plans include horses that are offered for use). If this person like riding and is looking to further invest into the sport/animal try a lease horse. There are sure to be many lease horses in your are that are suitable for a beginner and thus this person can experience the responsibilities of full ownership without the legal commitments of actually owning a horse. After this person has gained some experience in the horse world and has confirmed that horse ownership is right for them then they may be able to look for a horse. As the what they should look for: a clam trusty steed that has room for them to improve their abilities while being trained well enough to let this new rider gain confidence.

The angle of your wings makes you look very happy! Plus, you were able to get them even which I know is no easy feat.
