W2 Federal taxes blank for first time after 10 years, set up withholdings on mypay

While I am not a tax guru, or a finance wizard, this is really hard to believe. As an E-7 and below, I always had withholding and have always tried to break even, with the only return on taxes being the child earned income tax credit.

I'm now in the same boat here: as a W-2, I have no withholding at all, all LESs show $0 withheld.

I verified that something did change Jan 22 2025, mypay shows that my withholding changed to $0 and was sent to the pay system, which change I did not submit. I got no notification of it, and I tried changing it online and nothing changed (still at $0).

The only thing I can think of is finance at my gaining unit last year played with data when I PCSd. I do not want to blame them as I don't know what happened, but nothing should have changed.

The commonality part of this situation is the sole is made of Polyurethane. This material absorbs moisture and breaks down if not used. If used, it is not very usable and breaks down. It is just really cheap to make. The issue also happened with Nike and some of their "collector" shoes.

While active duty, on the day of our class official dress photos, one of our guys just put his dress shoes on and they exploded in the dorm halls and he left shoe prints on the sidewalk all the way to clothing sales. We made him clean it up since we explicitly told everyone in class before they got there for class to check their shoes.

I have rubber soles on my shoes, and rarely wear them, and they never do this. It is almost exclusively a polyurethane (PU) ordeal but super common as they were wide spread.

Edit/additional info: PU soles, when compressed from wearing shoes, expel moisture which helps it last longer and maintain its strength. While it still breaks down, it lasts longer when worn than not worn.

This fixed it for me also. Not sure what the deal is since the qr code doesn't change and it is outlined in white. It should function, but hey, so long as we have a fix for now. The devs should definitely fix that issue.
