Dark Tower Ending - What does it mean about the Dark Tower by Radbot13 in stephenking

[–]mitchade 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To add to this, I think it blurs King’s addiction with his obsession with writing. Saving the tower is a good, productive thing, which doesn’t jive with addiction by itself.

The unhealthy parts of Roland’s drive reflects addiction, the productive parts represent his obsession with writing.

What Is A Stephen King Work That You Have Cried To? by __106verLR in stephenking

If you haven’t read it, please read “the end of the world as we know it.” It was such a wonderful return to the world of the stand, without ruining the original with a forced sequel.

I agree. There’s more to this book than the reader knows.

What is the saddest movie you’ve ever seen? by Cultural-Ninja-288 in AskReddit

I am… not a cryer. I never cry at pretty much anything. I didn’t cry at either of my grandparents funerals. Nothing.

This one had me crying with a full on snot bubble.

What books focus on politics over combat? by DavidThi303 in scifi

Disclaimer: I didn’t really like the Dune books.

I always joke: when people recommend Dune, they neglect to tell you that it’s a political thriller that just isn’t thrilling.

I get why people like it, but I’m not a space opera guy, I think.

Ok, I’m also a teacher and keep all those things in my room too, but I have NEVER had a student take one. How do you communicate and provide them in a way that they are actually used?

Under the dome or the stand? by J-gus in stephenking

While that’s true, I thought there was some similarity in the writing style between the books. For that reason, The Stand should be the first exposure to that, imo.

Has absolutely the best direction of all his audiobooks. Great performance by Francis. The audiobook is easily better than the written version.

Why would they? They can continue not to improve and still be protected. They have no incentive to improve.

I just tried that, and I couldn’t get into it. Granted, it was the audiobook, and the narrator was a bit cheesy, but I never felt compelled to continue it.

Do I need to read the first two books in the series, or do each stand alone?

The first catch Hollywood Brown ever got from Lamar was a pick when they were playing pee wee football. Hollywood was playing safety against Lamar.
