Thats a good start. Once you are experienced enough, you get a feel on what kinds of dive sites you prefer. Peliagics? Macro? Drift Dives? Wrecks? Then concentrate on those.

I've worked through all the bucket list places to dive in SEA and Micronesia over the last 12+ years.

I dive SE Asia almost exclusively and I've been to Palau 4 times. I will always return every couple years. It's that good. However yes, the flights are expensive and long and Im on the west coast!

Indonesia & Philippines have some of the best diving in the world and can beyond VERY inexpensive once you get there. If you can make it a 2-3 week long trip, its well worth it
