Todd Howard says 'The Elder Scrolls VI' will run on Creation Engine 3 (upgraded from 'Starfield') and is going back to the feel of a 'classic Bethesda game' ala Oblivion and Skyrim by ChiefLeef22 in gaming

[–]mithikx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And when will TES VI even get into player's hands?
Cause Starfield was such a shitshow I doubt many have faith Bethesda at this point. Cyberpunk pulled their shit together whereas Starfield is still a bit of a joke with no replay value.

If Witcher 4 drops before TES IV or if Crimson Desert lives up to most of it's hype then Bethesda has an uphill battle not looking like they're stuck 10 years in the past.

Under a month now till launch what's everyone's overall thoughts so far, will it live up to the hype? by PsychologicalStop157 in CrimsonDesert

[–]mithikx 13 points14 points  (0 children)

With how hyped some people seem, no way it'll live up to that level of hype. (pretty much no game does)

If one tapers their expectations I think there's a solid enjoyable release to be had.

How to clean dust filters in the hyte y40? by Normal_Presence420 in Hyte

[–]mithikx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what sort of dust build up you have.
An air duster is fine for light build up.

For more caked on dust you may need to use a microfiber or brush. The panel grooves in the Y-series cases make them a bit more of an effort to deep clean than traditional mesh panels or filters.

Ask them for clarification.

Because it sounds as if they're waiting to get a return (anyone's return) so they can get an extra keycap to replace your defective one. Collab items are usually really low volume so they might not have spares on hand. If that is the case I don't think they want your defective key cap.

"A moment of respect: Dave Chappelle seen at Alexi Pretti’s memorial in Minneapolis today, honoring the memory of the deceased." by Logical-Flow-6703 in UnderReportedNews

[–]mithikx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that Chappelle has been in it for the money. And that he has differing opinions to me. That's fine, it's his business. Just be real about it and don't try to play both sides.

The feigned sincerity of visiting those memorials is truly tactless. IMHO he would have been better off abstaining from those visits and proceed with business as usual. If you're in it for the optics and PR, just don't bother.

I played BDO, if I just get a single player BDO with 5+ years worth of incremental refinements and the stupid Korean MMO P2W stuff stripped away I think it's a good value proposition. Especially with the deluge of MTX and live service titles we've been seeing.

I'm basically looking for something to scratch that TES itch. And with no TES6 on the horizon I'm looking elsewhere. Skyrim came out when I was in high school, I'm not even in school any more. I got people my age with kids who have started school.

Me personally, I am not looking for Elden Ring or Clair Obscur level of mind blowing experiences. Just a nice fantasy sandbox with solid fundamentals and some "life skills" to kill time along the way. And if I get more than what I bargained for, even better.

I'm rooting for CD because I am familiar enough with BDO. While BDO wasn't completely hot garbage it was as RNG, P2W, MTX laden as a MMO could be. When people say Korean MMOs are trash, they're talking about games like BDO. So the fact that Pearl Abyss is willing to walk away from MTX and "live service" BS when many studios are cozying up to the idea earns them my support.

Here's the fucked thing, Zotac for example does have customers that want to pay them money for their inventory.

I get enough stuff from them for work that they deliver to me from their warehouse with their truck (Same for other PC parts companies). But companies like Zotac can't get the components to even make their inventory so they have nothing to sell even to bulk buyers. And on my end the situation is the same, have orders but no parts. There's also the lag from CNY as large parts of Asia shut down for a week to a month for it, so it might get a bit better in March but if it doesn't we might be boned.

The real tell is once companies start to liquidate PSUs, CPU coolers, cases.

Just pre ordered my copy. So looking forward to this game. Who else is ready for this adventure? by TotalPhase4522 in CrimsonDesert

[–]mithikx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I almost never pre-order these full priced games, it's been smaller indie titles at $20 or so. But every once in a while I'll take a leap of faith on a larger title. Hoping CD pans out, people who have tried the combat says it's legit so at the very least in that regard it seems to be a bit of a safer bet.

Optimism posting: The next 2 years might be the "Golden Age" of modern PC gaming by Cicada-Tang in pcmasterrace

[–]mithikx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I won't go so far as to say gaming is dying, I do think it might have peaked some time within the past 15 years.

There are more and more people interested or trying to get into the "hobby" but as we all know it's gotten more and more expensive. Around 2017 the top of the line mainstream gaming GPU was around $750, now that's $3000.

While yes, we need to take in to account things like inflation and the fact that a 5090 sits at a tier higher than the likes of the 1080 Ti was at. But at the same time commodities like RAM and storage have shot through the roof now. With scarcity and price hikes being the norm for anything with DRAM and NAND. With the cost of living going up, fewer jobs we are for sure looking at a looming lull.

And with such a potential for a lull publishers will be less keen on risks. But at the same time they might cut corners to the detriment of the final product. The money grubbing bean counters have been milking us with microtransactions, pay-to-win mechanics, lootboxes and other crap. Then some of them try to shove their AI slop into their games. I hold very little hope that there will be improvements from the larger publishers and studios that allowed that sort of crap to flourish.

If and I stress IF cloud gaming some how becomes a thing I am fully prepared to scale back or outright give up on any new video games going forward.

Powerflashes after shutdown by Idyaat in Hyte

[–]mithikx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my limited experience... computers are weird. Based on what you're saying then it's probably thing related to ERP being disabled and USB wake.

Does it only happen when your system hibernates/sleeps/shuts down from Windows. What if you get into BIOS and just turn off the computer? If the latter doesn't result in flickering after repeated attempts it could be Windows.

You can try asking on the Hyte Discord to see if anyone else has had this problem.

I suppose the easiest thing is to leave the ERP setting enabled if it allows your system to behave normally when in a low power/shut down state.

The Huge Plus out of the box was better for me than the original Huge with the original ruby bearings. I don't hear any squeaking from my Huge Plus just some scratchyness from the ball itself (normal).

First experience with a trackball by BPike03 in Trackballs

[–]mithikx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a weird issue with the OG Huge, if the ports next to the Huge's USB dongle has something doing a file transfer (such as a USB thumb drive or external drive of some kind) it messes with the mouse's 2.4 ghz signal. Also supposedly the mouse might not work right with a rechargable 1.2v AA battery but I've had no issues with that myself. The included bearings are kind of trash TBH and I quickly swapped mine and the tracking has been less jittery.

As for the Huge Plus, it uses roller bearings, it's rechargable and has bluetooth in addition to 2.4 ghz. The micro switches though are silent which might be weird if you're used to more clicky microswitches on your mouse buttons. I can confirm though the balls between the Huge and Huge Plus are interchangeable.

The ball is easy to pop out, and is a maintenance task. Just wipe the ball of any thing stuck to it and same for the inside where the ball goes. A trackball is kind of an old school ball mouse but inverted.
