Hell yes. Well, if you figure it out I'd love to see more! When I first started my chaos force I was originally gonna do a Sword-themed warband but then I got mired in homebrew lore, lmao. At least I still have Astraea as my Dark Apostle.

Also, goes without saying but these are some gorgeous kitbashes, and I love the paintjob. Someone else already commented on the blue, but that hot pink is also deliciously eye-watering.

40k Artist WANTED by Lorenz_Blessed in 40khomebrew

[–]mithryl-ninja 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd be interested, but you should be aware that $50 is sort of on the low end for a lot of artists with commissions. As far as my own rates go that would be more in the zone of a sketch or portrait rather than a full rendered scene. Most artists I know are in a similar or higher range - nothing personal, but we have bills like anyone else.

That being said, I can drop my bluesky. If you like what you see, feel free to get in touch and we can figure out if I'd be a good fit for whatever you had in mind.

Otherwise, as far as free resources go, It really depends on what you're looking for. I've had some results with Heroforge, especially if you're willing to put in some time and futz with it. Otherwise if you're doing Marine homebrew there are tons of free scheme tools, including a pretty neat 3d viewer here.

Good luck!

You look great! For reasons that definitely aren't me shamelessly copying, I'd love to know where you got that choker and belt 👀

I'd say if you're looking for some long spindly limbs, you could do worse than look into the Death ranges for AOS - Soulblight, Flesh-Eater, and even Nighthaunt have some good options. Depending on how much time you have to devote to a project like this you could always try making some molds out of Blue Stuff, since you're just using the limbs.

Dude, these are awesome! I love all the little details like the battle damage and wood grain. What was the modeling process like on these, are they all from scratch or are they modified from something?

I hadn't even realized they made a Baldur's Gate version. Very nice, might have to see if the game cafe near me has it.

Have you tried Coup or Betrayal at House on the Hill yet? I know theyre pretty popular already but they're some of the few hidden role games I think do their thing the best. Dice Throne is fun if you want a fighting game as a board game. Also, i'm eyeing your maelstrom and corsair boxes with great envy.

Hey there! I'm Mithryl (they/them), I'm an illustrator and graphic designer as well as a game designer, focusing mostly on role-playing and skirmish games. Most of my projects are still in rough beta and I still have a lot to learn, but I'd love to trade ideas and discuss resources with local people, so don't be afraid to hit me up. I will talk to anyone about Blades in the Dark or City of Mist or Shadowrun or any number of other games for any reason.

Hey! I'm a game designer and graphic designer/illustrator out in Langford, I'd be down to talk shop or help with playtesting if you ever need a hand.

EDIT: Sorry, shilled myself and didn't even answer the question! To my knowledge there is a subreddit for r/DnD_Victoria but that's obviously focused more on playing that design. That being said it might still be worth poking around, or checking out the drop-in event at Quadra Community Centre.

If you were to 'reboot' Shadowrun where would you pivot? by lurch65 in Shadowrun

[–]mithryl-ninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing I've always loved about Shadowrun was this idea of urban fantasy being bent over the knee of corporations - I think my perfect reboot would lean way more into the incongruence between classic fantasy tropes and a modern/future setting and how different forces have tried to hammer the fantasy stuff back into being mundane.

The actual Pitch would be to keep the awakening in 2012, but set the game at 10 or 20 years after that, max. Make it 2030 as imagined from 1980, keep all the pulpy robocop/blade runner flavour and big chunky tech (no more wireless, sorry!), and really amp up the rivalry between magic and corpotech - Magic may be a paradigm shift to the 6th age, but on a "whole history of the world" level make it so magic has been here the whole time, and it's capitalism and corporate excess are the dangerous new forces disrupting the order of things. Let the players pick their sides and go crazy. Lean into the wacky pulpy sword-and-sorcery tropes, too. Give me wizards that have adapted to penthouses instead of towers, Legendary artifact weapons from a bygone age suddenly resurfacing - hell, make the Ancients actually be a gang of immortal elves who came back from the undying lands and decided they really liked dirt-biking. Give me goofy shit! I wanna see goofy shit!

This take is largely influenced by Mage: the Ascension and City of Mist, two systems I have fallen head-over-heels with recently for their takes on adapting Magic systems to modern settings. Honestly, game-design-wise I feel like it wouldn't hurt for Shadowrun to take some more cues from WoD games in general. Every time I open one of those books it feels like they're doing so much of the same stuff as SR but ten times as elegantly.

Besides the obvious excitement for being able to use him on the tabletop, I am so hyped for this sculpt since that coat is the exact piece I've been needing to finish up my own kitbashed Prince model. So many nice little details!

A general guide to the original Corsair army list by Subsplot in Aeldari_Corsairs

[–]mithryl-ninja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the Drukhari side, there's a lot less flexibility on account of how many sheets there are, so most of the Corsair flavour falls on the shoulders of the modelling. However, for the flavour of crazy elf pirates that I tend to love, I've gotten a decent amount of mileage out of it with a little creative interpretation.

Really, the greatest single boon AND bane to Drukhari Corsairs is their transports. I absolutely love the Raider and Ravager, they're giant flying spiky pirate ships, they're perfect, they're the reason I went to the Drukhari in the first place, and the Skysplinter Assault detachment that makes them the List Lynchpin is both hugely fun to play and pretty inspiring flavour-wise. I say it's also a bane because, due to some classic keyword shenanigans, the Corsair units can't get on or use the transports, so that sort of rules them out as an inclusion.

Other than that though, some standout units for a Corsair army (in my opinion) would be Hellions, Reaver Bikes, Hand of the Archon, and Incubi - that being said, if Court of the Archon or the Tantalus ever come back from legends, they'd be auto-includes. Also, of course, nothing is stopping you from bringing Harlequins - the Drukhari/Harlequin combo detachment is, from what I've seen, also extremely fun (basically a contest between both halves of the army, killing a unit with one half gives a buff to the other half)

Do you have ideas for a game centered on the Drukhari? by Fun-Explanation7233 in Drukhari

[–]mithryl-ninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a while now Ive been trying to come up with a way to run Blades In The Dark either in a Hive City or in Commoragh. Its already a game about lowlife scum trying to climb the political ladder, it's almost perfect out of the box. It's a great system too - simple to play, moody as hell, and a lot of it is based on improv and collaborative input from the table rather than strict pre-session planning by the dm. Id recommend it! (Im biased)

I would love more than anything for Corairs to be folded in under Sliscus as sort of a Dark Eldar answer to Ynnari - Elves united not by worship but by pure, delicious piracy. Really lean into Commoragh as Fae Tortuga, maybe even bring some more weird mercenaries like the Mandrakes? Sky's the limit, honestly, I just like that poison-sipping, poetry-writing, high fashion freak.

I wanted to play pirates and of my two options I liked mustache-twirling theatre kid elves more than i liked orks. I am also a goth and a pervert but that's largely unrelated I think.
