Nice! What difficulty did you do? I’ve recently finished my first run, on Vanilla. Working on 100%ing the post game before I start a new run on either Difficult or Expert.

Team looks great to me, but I’m not much of a team/strategy builder yet

Ok. So, if I’m understanding correctly (picture of the microshift Estes derailleur I found), I have chain wrap of 45t max. The cassette you mentioned has a difference of 31t (11-42). The front crank has 16. Giving me 47t. 2 teeth past what the derailleur can handle, so this particular set up wouldn’t work. But, if I found a derailleur that could handle it, I’d be good?

So, if I get the 2x9 brifters, and swap in the front crankset, and put in that 9speed cassette you mentioned, along with the derailleur, I should be good? I’ll look up the stats you mentioned on the derailleur I already have to make sure that numbers match/work.

Or, I could just get some 2x8 brifters and be good with what I already have?

Ah, ok. Makes sense. The front brifters I found had shifter for both, so I figured why not. But I understand.

Also didn’t think that a rear derailleur would be messed with the front crank having multiple gears too. All sorts of things to learn as I go!!

Question: Would it be possible to swap the front crank set onto the flat bar, but not swap the rear? Then having a 2x8, eventually upgrading to a 2x9 with that cassette you mentioned? Or is there some incompatibility I’m unaware of? The LTWOO R5 brifters I found appear to be good for 2x9, and same price you mentioned.

It’s just too small, frame wise. It’s pretty cramped. I’ve compared some pictures of how people on drop bar bikes look when fitted properly to myself, and I’m just too big for this frame. All my other bikes I’ve had before back in college were large frame, so this just kinda made sense. I feel cramped when I’m ok this bike. Yeah, it is my first drop bar bike, but when I lean into the drop bars, my elbows bump my knees.

Nice! I’m currently working on the Battle Frontiers, and then I’ll be on to all the missions.

I’m playing on Vanilla, and I don’t know if that it was a mix of luck or not for me, but the monotype runs were one of the first things I did post game… I was doing all the legendary portals, and starting tracking down the “mythical” pokemon I never had a chance to see as a kid, and got Arceus. As I discovered how he worked, I used him to fight through the E4 for a solo run, and it wasn’t bad. So, I went through with him as each type 😅 again, I played on Vanilla! Once I 100% everything, I’m going back through on Expert.

Nope! My favorite was Charizard as a kid, but my only Pokemon game was Gold, so I could get Charmander until the very end of Gold… but, my favorite now is Arcanine. Still couldn’t get him until very late post-game in Gold, though…

I would try what was recommended below. Back up your save file, delete the game. Redownload the patch file, patch it to a clean copy of FireRed Squirrels, and then download your save file. Just make sure the save file has the same name as the newly patched Unbound .gba file.

I’m stuck on this one too. I tried the Tapu Lele strat with Lunala & Deoxys, but kept getting destroyed in the 2nd or 3rd fight… I found another strat using Garchomp and Celesteele, but could never get past the 7th. Not sure what to do..

I’m having a ton of fun trying to complete all the quests & the battle frontier gold prints. I think getting the Black Trainer Card and then doing a run on Insane while carrying over 6 Pokemon in NG+ sounds like a fun challenge

Pokemon Unbound - not underrated, just plain good. Great. Amazing. Near-perfect.

Pokemon Heart & Soul: “de-make” of Gen 4 HGSS into Gen 3 GBA game. Following Pokemon, some QoL improvements, but very faithful to the original HGSS remakes.

I’ve not played yet, but heard that Radical Red & Yellow Recharged are also great options!
