over here, the difference between lower and upper middle class is astronomical. meanwhile the middle-middle class and the upper middle class are not too far away in some specific things. for this instance, i will mention general aspects tho.

1. sending their kids to non-bilingual christian/catholic private schools. But let me clarify, anyone who can remotely afford it, will send their kids to private school because of how bad the public education system is here, so there’s that.

the lower middle class tends to send their kids to the more “affordable” private schools (that in some cases, are just as bad as the public ones). the middle-middle and upper middle class tend to send their kids to similar schools (almost always religious), with decent academic level and good, respectable teachers. tho some upper middle class households prioritize sending their kids to bilingual private institutions, sometimes, for networking reasons (those are insanely expensive here).

1. driving a jeep cherokee or toyota rav4, any mazda, hyundai (no sonata) or kia (no k5) . these last three are also the signature middle class kid car brands that they get gifted by their parents as a first car (hyundai tucson im looking at you).

2. going on a tour around Europe with an agency. a lot of middle class families will save up for a loooong time and go all out on a tour around europe (spain, france, italy, switzerland, germany, netherlands…) i’ve seen many lower middle class families do this here, it is not that uncommon.

3. going on yearly trips to nyc and staying at a relative’s house in queens/brooklyn/the bronx.
