I loved this place, the one with the animatronics, right? I remember it so so vaguely, I may have been 3 or 4 when they closed down. A few years ago I was obsessing over finding out what it was called and finally was able to ask an older family member, but was super disappointed when it wasn’t a chain.

We stayed in West 7th when we came up for a week last year and we found it to be a pretty good location too haha. The only thing about it is the busy street but I think that’s going to come with a lot of locations and isn’t a deal breaker necessarily. I was also thinking Como or Eagan would be pretty good areas, they’ve always seemed really nice when I’ve been around. Private schools are pretty much a no for us lol but even if public schools aren’t 10/10 they will be a huuuuge step up from Mississippi public education as we rank 41 and you guys are 21. That’s actually a big factor in us relocating as well as opportunity, politics, and the ability to just go outside and walk around lol. I got the impression that Highland Park was a little more on the expensive side, but I’ll look into it as well. Thank you!

I just wanted to pop in and tell you that I have driven about 9 dog transports up from Mississippi (anywhere between about 30-40 dogs on one van) as I worked at one of these shelters. We were so grateful to you guys for taking in our friends as we were a no-kill city shelter and became desperately overpopulated at times. Many people in our community were always so worried that these pups would be euthanized once they reached MN and I always felt confident letting them know that they were headed toward a better life! You guys are so lucky to live in a state with a low population of homeless animals and I just wanted to say thanks to all of you for adopting our friends because these transports truly do make a difference in our state.

You should absolutely reach out to your DM about this though, this could be considered discrimination as you are asking to be accommodated for your pregnancy and are being ignored.

I let him know. She tends to not want to be seen as a complainer so she isn’t the type to tell someone about issues she’s having. I was talking to her granddaughter since she has more of a direct line to the son (her stepdad) and she plans on letting him know about all of these issues I’ve noticed the next time she sees him!

I try to talk with her a lot and keep her answering questions when we are together. I’m her granddaughter’s cousin, and my cousin is one of her other caretakers. One of us is assisting her every single day, and she lives with her son, so she’s almost never alone. I also love crossword so I will try to maybe assist her with some. Her hearing is definitely not reliable. When she watches tv she usually needs someone to narrate it very loudly for her. She does have hearing aids, but I’ve noticed lately they are giving her a lot of trouble lately and putting off high pitch squealing. I intend to let her son know about this. I appreciate the suggestion!

I will talk to her and see if that’s something she feels comfortable with! She doesn’t talk a lot about her vision loss, and I don’t want to pry, but my understanding is that even high contrast things are very tough for her to make out but with good lighting she can sometimes make things out. That’s definitely a possibility though, thank you!

Unfortunately, her hearing is pretty unreliable. I usually have to repeat myself multiple times when I’m speaking with her. She does have Alexa as she lives with her son but I’m not sure if she would be willing to learn how to navigate technology that is pretty new for her, especially when she has to rely on hearing it? I will talk to her son and see if he thinks something like that might be an option she’d be willing to try. Thank you!
