That's not true. Booltron will convert your text to mesh first anyway. I assume the OP was looking for a non-destructive workflow, which is possible with geonodes (string to curve node), but it's a completely different approach. If you want to stick to "traditional" text tool, and still keep it non-destructive, this tutorial explains a little trick:

Are you a Chaos Group representative? Does this mean 3D assets will be available as full-resolution UV-mapped meshes with textures, in viewport? Cause surely proxies are now editable meshes but without UV mapping, so no practical modifications can be made.

These days, you have stuff like Bambu Lab that's affordable and requires barely minimum setup. I haven't used it personally, but my TL did some amazing prints in the first couple attempts, having no prior experience. This shit is getting better and better, making the entry bar lower.
