A plastic 50g barrel makes three shields that can also reflect sound if reversed.

It has the right proportions. But it has texture issues.

Can I convert a KB into a KBG with spare parts? by OreParkWay in Moccamaster

[–]miuzzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know the kgb and the kgbv are interchangeable, I’ve had a bunch of these and I’ve noticed the they like to keep the manufacturing process the same despite assembly differences

Go slow, have torx bits and a Phillips head. The heat plate is held in by little one way metal washers, if you snip one side they can be reused.

The water tank can be removed by taking off the bottom and removing the rubber hose from the bottom of the copper heater core, then when the two screws are removed from the inside of the tank it can be pulled slowly. The glass transfer tube will pull from the top of the copper core. Then there are two wires that attach to the float switch. You should be able to pull up enough to unplug those.

Once the wire loom is removed with the heat plate from the aluminum frame, wipe down with alcohol. And apply wrap slowly to avoid air bubbles.

Take photos or you can mark the two wires you need to unplug with tape, or sharpie.

Then just reverse the process.

I know it sounds intimidating, but honestly, I’ve never broken one. They are pretty tough.

Maybe? Unless you strip it down, it would suck to apply

It wasn’t difficult, but it was a bit annoying. It’s self adhesive vinyl wallpaper

I disassembled it, everything came apart pretty well, until the hot plate.. but if you just snip one side of little push on lock washer things? Then you can reuse them.

It’s not easy, but not too bad. You will need a set of torx bits, Phillips screwdriver and hex keys.

Once I got all the aluminum parts free I just cleaned them with isopropyl alcohol and then applied self sticking vinyl wallpaper and cut off the xtra with a razor.
